Mini SD 8g card suddenly not working with no error messages. My phone (Samsung Galaxy A5) is acting as if the card slot doesn't exist. This happened over night with no cause. I've had this phone for about 6-8 months now and have made no changes to anything except installing and uninstalling apps, as normal, as one does with a phone.

I take very good care of my phone and have a protector on it. All ports are clean with no damage. I haven't dropped it recently, nor have I installed apps. I took out the card, inspected it, pristine condition.

I installed an SD Scanner app and when I run it it scans /storage/emulated/0 but I thought emulated was device storage? Either way, I can see the files it's scanning so it's reading something.

I installed "Memory Card Virus Scan" app and it scanned "SD-CARD" specifically. Scanned over 3000 files, came back clean. So at least the card is accessible. So why can't I have access to my SD card suddenly?

I installed 2 antivirus apps (AVG and Z Security). Both came back clean.

SD card storage is not showing up in file explorer, via USB connection to computer, when I go to move/copy a file the SD isn't an option, etc.

Someone please help! I've read so many forums already and did all the things. But pretty much everything I read is talking about a new SD card.

Sorry I didn't log in before posting this!

I tried to "move app to SD card" to no avail- the option is not there for any apps. But the funny thing is is that maybe 2 months ago I moved all apps I could to SD card so I know that about half of my apps are installed there. And I'm having to issues with my apps.

The only reason I noticed my SD card wasn't being accessed is because my music suddnely dissapeared, some photos, and my ringtone was defaulted (not a selected song).

Marshmallow introduced the "internal SD card" - if you choose that option, there's no more "internal" and "external" SD card, it's just "storage". If you want it the old way, format the card as external.

Is this something that happened within the past 48 hours with no warning? Thursday my phone was fine, then yesterday I noticed half my files were "missing".

I just put my SD card into my old Galaxy S4 and it's saying "insert SD card" so it sounds like my SD card is suddnely not readable. But when I scanned it with "SD Card Cleaner" app it showed me all the "missing" files. So why can a third party app access these files but my phone cant? Nor can my old phone?

The card may be corrupt. You need a card reader and have a PC to check for and repair errors by running chkdsk. This could be a sign of a failing card.
