I used to have a black berry storm, and ive used this same memory card since then, i reformated the SD card before i put it in my incredible when i first got it. it worked great until recently. i reformat it again and again and still get this error.

1. ive uninstalled all file managers and still have this issue
2. Im considering factory reseting the phone just to see if that does anything [doubtful]

any suggestions on what to do? i mean if all else fail i'll buy a new SD card but really dont want to seeing as it worked fine last week.

Try reformatting it on your PC to Fat 32 - and re try it on the phone. (Assuming there is no data on there you have to back up)

If that does not work and another reformat on the phone does not work then a new card is in order - they do go bad and they do have a read/write life. It's a high life but a finite life none the less.

how would you go about formating it on the computer?

If you connect to the computer - you have a choice to sync, mount as data or charge only. Select mount as data and it will mount the card as a drive then you can right click and reformat - or you can remove the card from the phone and insert it into your card slot for SD cards (I'm assuming you have a micro to Standard SD adaptor) and reformat that with a Right click.

If it is saying SD card read only I had the same problem. You have to put SD card into computer and for me a screen popped up and ask for to fix SD card I click ok and it fixed it.

When you ask for a fix it fomats your SD card so you will lose everything in your SD card. If you want to save your stuff go into recovery and and mount your SD card from there and copy your files on to your computer.

thanks for the help guys im reformating both ways and seeing if that helps we'll see.

and i did have that no read before but all i did was unmount and then reformat it fixed that.

Thanks for the tip guys, that just happened to me today about 3.5 hours after I downloaded and installed the Swype beta (that I got from an invite). UGH super frustrating I didn't/couldn't figure out what the heck was going on with my SD card considering it wasn't "unmounted" and it wasn't loose. Unfortunately at this time I can not find/nor do I have anymore the adapter. (epic fail).

I tried to load the sdcard and mount but I was unsuccessful, I too am like the first poster, carried over the 8GB SD from my storm. Any other suggestions before I lose my hair and chuck it and buy a new SD card, right now I'm using the one it came with and desperately trying to put files back on it (photos, music, etc.) and failing.

Advice?

okay the best thing to do is what i did i, had that problem a lot the last week, i would format, then get a weird error 15-20 minutes again and again.

1. take the SD card out, then have the settings menu up for where it has phone sd space listings [with the un mount-format options towards the bottom]
2. as soon as you put the card in hit un mount before it can mount itself.
3. I then formatted it and mounted it again. if you can get that far without issues you can do the next step.
4. what i then did was usb connect the phone to the computer as a disk drive. formatted the drive that had the sd card [h drive for me] make sure you format to FAT32.

that should fix that problem. like i said i did that all yesterday and its worked perfect since then.
