hi guys - im a newbie here in these forums
I have a j7 w 16 GB, 1.5 GB RAM and got a 128GB SanDisk SD and my phone slowed to a crawl after a month or two. the slow down was driving me batty & found this thread.
I thought I'd report back on how I fixed it in case it helps anyone else...
the short & skinny is apps on an SD that run background services (in my case, VUDU) were culprits.
I have "Force allow apps on external" in Developer Options on - if you have this on too, you might be moving apps to your external that have background services.
as soon as i moved these apps back to Internal storage, my phone finally became stable again.
You can have a large # of apps on yr SD. I have 27 apps [on my SD] (probably about 40-50%) and my phone runs fine.
If you have a similar issue, go to the list of Running Services in Developer Options and make sure any apps listed are *not* on your SD. If they are, move them back to your Internal & see if it helps (you may need to reboot)
Another way to isolate the issue is to go into Storage Settings and unmount your SD (it might take awhile if yr phone is fubared so be patient!) Once it unmounts - see if your slowdown goes away. If it does, one of your external apps is a culprit.
This is my 2 cents on this issue. Glad Im not pulling my hair out anymore
