SD Configuration ?

My Moto E will not transfer any apps to my SD card. Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In order to detect and transfer mp3 files from my pc I have configured my SD card to :
"When connected, pull down SD icon in notification bar. There should be 3 options.
Default is 'USB charging'. Pick 2nd option - 'MTP' and you should be able to transfer files".
Am I right that in order to transfer apps to my SD card I should choose “Internal storage” option for the SD card ? I seem to remember that setting rendered my phone invisible when I connected via USB to my laptop. See attch. What am I missing here ?

Is the SD card set to be Portable Storage (i.e., the traditional removable SD card) or Adoptable Storage (i.e., incorporated into the phone's Internal Storage, and therefore not removable)?

I have the setting that allows me to view phone & SD card on my laptop via USB. Portable I believe

I'm not sure if Adoptable Storage affects the ability to view things on your laptop. Can you show us a screenshot of your Settings>Storage​ menu?

To be clear, with my "Portable" config I can view / transfer on my pc, just not move apps from internal to SD Card.

According to this Motorola support page, you can't move apps to SD if the card is set as Portable Storage: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/109134/p/1449,9582

Your initial post is throwing me off a bit--are you trying to move apps to the SD using Windows Explorer? That wouldn't work in the first place--moving apps to SD is something that can only be done in the Settings>Apps menu of the phone (if that function is supported).

Issue solved, that you for your time in helping me. With the OTA upgrade to V 6.0, is it just Android or do some Motorola settings change also?
