Scard0 is just internal memory? Why even have "sdcard" in the name? It's extremely confusing for people but especially my phone and the apps that you want to save stuff to your "sdcard"

Apps think it's the actual SD card and sends backup files there. Why did they do this? I can never find things.. When I have apps set to download things to the card, they go to Scard0 instead of the actual card.

And if I finally move things to the real sd card, and do a factory reset, what happens? Should I remove it first? B

when I got this phone and reinstalled my apps, some of them couldn't find any of the backup files.

Very annoying Motorola.

Sent from my phone with the app.

This has nothing to do with Motorola.

This is how Android is design.

All of them have sdcard0.

Android was designed originally to support multiple sd cards and the operating system needed a marker to determine which one was the internal storage.
By the way windows computers do the same thing and each harddrive is secretly marked HD0,1 etc.

Now to the question you ask. Even though it is not suppose to be necessary, whenever I do a factory restore. I take the SD card out, put it in a computer and verify the files are there first.

Also you can use an application like Titanium Backup Pro( I believe phone has to be rooted), to back up all your data, including application data to your SD card and restore it all after you reset your phone.

If this isn't feasible, you can use a program like air droid to transfer files off your sd card to your computer as an additional backup before you do the factory reset.

I always believe in having multiple backups before a factory reset.

That doesn't change the fact that calling internal storage SD anything is completely stupid and confusing to people and apps.

So it's not moto... Dumb move android.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Seriously, if this is the worst thing Google does with Android, then they clearly have no challenges ahead of them and will dominate the market. I fail to see the big deal about sdcard 0 vs 1. Once you figure it out, it is no worse than have an A: drive vs B: drive on a PC.

I think the real issue is not the user. It's the fact that some apps give you the option to backup data from the internal memory to the SD card. But instead of the data ending up on the actual SD card, it ends up on sdcard0, which is not the SD card at all.
