Question Secure Folder login locks entire phone?

Galaxy S24, One UI version 8.0, Knox 3.12, Security patch level-Oct 1, 25.
Not sure if any of the above is helpful, if my question needs other info, please ask.


I don't have a lock screen code/pattern etc on my phone. (I realize I'm in the minority here) nonetheless that's my preference. In the past I've use a code/pattern/other for items in Secure Folder to protect my sensitive things.
Recently after some update or another (sorry, I don't know when this happened, a few months ago?) the only way to use Secure Folder is to install a code/pattern/etc for my entire phone.
My question: Is there a way to only require a code/pattern/etc for Secure Folder only, and not the entire phone?

I couldn't hazard a guess. I always have a lock on my phone and a separate lock for my Secure Folder. It's not surprising, though, that OEMs would strengthen security with each iteration of their OS.
