Security issue on Pixel 2 XL

Hello:

I've had my Pixel 2 XL for about a year now, and love it. Best Android phone I've ever had.

I was showing my buddy how the fingerprint unlock works, and let him try it. While he was unable to unlock the phone with his fingerprint, he did unlock it simply by tapping the power switch on the side, then swiping UP. He had instant access to everything.

Is this supposed to happen? I have the fingerprint security turned on, along with the password security (you can enter a 4-digit passcode to unlock the phone if you don't want to use the fingerprint).

But seeing him unlock the phone simply by swiping up has me a little concerned.

i'm running the latest Android version (9). Build PQ1A.181205.002

How long is your Automatically Lock interval set to? If you just had the phone on, and then turned the screen off, chances are that the screen will still unlock with a simple Power button press (unless you have the Automatically Lock interval set to only a few seconds, or unless you have it set to lock screen automatically with a Power button press).

Your fingerprint will still turn on the screen, regardless of whether or not it's locked.

Thanks, SactoKingsFan! That was it! I turned that off, and now it no unlocks simply by swiping up.

Glad you got that figured out! We want our phones to be safe and unhackable!
