I'm somewhat interested in getting a smartwatch, and from what I understand the top two at the moment are this one, and the Samsung Gear S? I have a Note 2, soon to be 4, so staying in the Samsung grouping is nice, but I hear the 360 is good too, so, fill me in on it?

I wouldn't stick to Samsung just because you are planning on getting a Note 4 - be open minded and get the wearable that will suit your needs and style. Personally, I like the Moto 360 for the circular design. However, the Zen Watch is just as a good looking watch (in square) that I would also consider if looking for a smart watch.

You can take a look at the AC review for the Moto 360 here: Moto 360 review | Android Central
And the Asus Zen Watch is here: ASUS ZenWatch review | Android Central

Do you have a budget? What about look? Are you looking for something circular or squared? Give us a little more information and we'll do our best to suggest something that you'll like.

Also keep in mind, I had this dilemma buying my first smartwatch, also being a high school student, my budget was very limited but I bought the Galaxy Gear Live and within two or so weeks the metal contacts on the bottom burned me from the watch getting so hot, I returned it to best buy they exchanged it and I went on with my day. The second one burned me again, so I went back to best buy and got my money back and got my wonderful Moto 360, I absolutely love it I couldn't be happier, but keep in mind if you have small wrists, it may look like an oreo strapped to your wrist but that's your opinion. I'm very wary of Samsung products now, but the choice is yours friend!

I have and wear both the the 360 and the Gear S.(Not at the same time) I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have. They are both fantastic watches with their own pros and cons.

yeah mine does sort of look like a huge oreo on my wrist. I've lost a bit of weight recently and now the whole watch is really sliding around too, so I may have to bite the bullet and remove a link (have the black steel band).

That said I love my giant black oreo.

I love mine too, I was gonna get the metal band but I don't know how I feel about it, I bang my wrist a lot at work, it's be tragic to scratch my band.

I wear mine with the Pebble Steel black band. There is no better combination in my personal option, and for $20, it's worth twice the price and more attractive than the original Moto steel (again, my personal opinion). It isn't scratch proof, but it's not cheap either. Mine looks perfectly new with the exception of the flat fastener, which is pretty unavoidable -- even that is quite minimal.

I work in cable, bang the crap out of my Moto 360 metal band (stainless steel) and have no scratches or blemishes on it after 3 months of having the band!!!
