Selling Note 9 for Pixel

Idk, my last Samsung was an S6 and i liked it a lot, the note 9 looks like a beast and even though im going with a Pixel 3...if i had a note 9 already id keep it and look at maybe a pixel 4 next year. i know the camera on the pixel is a better camera, but the note 9 had so much going for it.

If Samsung could get their act together with their cameras, i would probably pickup the note 9. It's only $900 at TMobile, so compared to the 64gb 3 xl it's a pretty good value. The camera, bixby and dealing with all of Samsung duplicate apps when i just want to use Google's is why i would have a hard time adjusting to it coming from the 2xl.
Debating between upgrading from the Pixel 2 to the Pixel 3, Note 9 or V40. All the reasons you listed are what's holding me back on the Note 9. I just don't know if I want to deal with the extra stuff. Not to mention if the camera is foobar'd right now I don't need that. I need a working camera.

The V40 is impressive on paper and I played with one, it feels nice and has much tighter integration with Google apps and very few LG apps from what I could see. I just worry about LGs execution and the camera not being that good. But on paper it should be awesome.

The Pixel 3/3XL is just, IDK it feels like it's lacking. It's solid but boring and not really fun. And for the price I want something kind of fun.

Hear Samsung has a box, that you drag all the apps in that you don't use.
So they are not there in yet way.
I thought that was pretty cool.

If you're mainly interested in security updates, the Verizon S and Note series are only running behind Google like 3 weeks so that's not an issue. Of course, platform updates do run behind if that's your thing but a lot of "new" features that Google pushes out in platform updates have already been baked into the Samsung Experience UI (e.g., blue-light filter, picture in picture, etc.)

Key hardware advantages for the Note 9 vs. Pixel 3xl. I'm comparing base models.

- 128GB base storage (up to 512GB)
- 6GB RAM base
- Dual Cameras
- Expandable storage via micro SD card (up to 512GB extra)
- S-Pen
- 4000 mah battery
- headphone jack

Base model for Note 9 with 128GB Storage /6GB RAM starts at $999. Base model for Pixel 3XL with 64GB storage/4GB RAM starts at $899.

So the question is are the platform updates, faster UI experience, subjective camera advantages worth a $100 cost savings vs. a better screen, S-Pen, double the base storage, 2GB more RAM, expandable storage, and bigger battery? This is comparing base vs. base. A 128GB Pixel 3XL would be $999, same as a base Note 9.

I told you my gut feeling you be with pixel ... You need stock Android lol

Yeah I know, I just don't want to pay for it lol. IDK that I need it but I was always annoyed with the extras when I had Samsung and LG devices in the past. I never used all that stuff.

The stupid part is I don't need to upgrade, I just want to.

May I ask what's so annoying about a bigger battery, 2GB more extra RAM, expandable storage, and twice as much base storage (128GB vs. 64GB) in the Note 9 vs. the pixels? I would understand if the stock android experience with some AI tricks and platform updates (note: not security updates at least with US carriers) are really what does it for people but it's definitely not value in hardware.

I know that feeling of wanting hahaha

I had a Google Pixel 2XL and mistakingly downgraded to a Note 9.i absolutely hated the note 9. It had the worst camera of any phone I've had in the past 5 years.

I went back out and got a pixel 2 XL and the note 9 sat on my nightstand. I recently traded that note 9 for Google pixel 3XL. I now have a Google pixel 3XL and a Google pixel 2 XL as a spare. I could not be happier with the 3XL.
Really? I wouldn't say the camera is that bad. I've had even die hard iPhone fans want to switch after seeing my pictures.

I really just want to try something new/Google experience. Kind of like how I tried iPhone for two years even though I prefer Android.

I don't know which forum to post this in. I am interested in the new Pixel 3 XL. I'm thinking to sell my 128gb note 9. What's a good price?

I tried the Note 8 for one week but switched to the Pixel 2XL and now I have the Pixel 3XL. The P3XL is a great phone and the entire Google smart phone smoothness is truly gangsta! Plus I'm not a big fan of Samsung's touch wiz and i dont care if they squeeze an Intel i9 cpu in the device. Google did a great job with this one (features and performance).

The regular pixel 3 screen is not nearly as good as the s9. So since Samsung made the 3 xl's screen, I'd go with that over the pixel 3. I didn't get the 3 XL so I can't compare the screen quality. Maybe someone who has a Note 9 and the XL can chime in on that.

S9+ and pixel 3 xl I can't tell a difference yet goes for note also

Edit: have to do more hands on

ok only difference by the way the s9 and note 9 are pretty much the same screens. pixel XL only lacks brightness like 1 level down from them. the xl definitely better screen then 8+ that had more pinkish tint that's not happening with 3 xl but brightness is one step down I will test again in sunlight but other day I didn't have problem with 3 xl .For color accuracy I think u need a device for testing that because by eye I can't tell

Brightness and clarity on white backgrounds is what I'm really talking about. The s9 is much brighter than the regular pixel 3 on any setting and the text is also more crisp. But I see the 3 XL is also less bright than sammy. I guess Samsung is still holding back the very best for their own phones.

I don't think Sammy holding off their best screen, Google just didn't want pay top dollars to have it. My opinion

My opinion is that Google was gun-shy over all the publicity the P2XL screen got last year. Screen burn-in and blue tint was jumped on by reviewers everywhere. Google has talked about the steps they have taken to reduce burn-in with the 3 XL. My opinion is that they have intentionally reduced intensity/brightness in direct reaction to all the burn-in negativity from last year.

I can see that , but even if it is less brightness I had it the one day out in sun and didn't have a issue seeing the screen. I will try again and see on brighter days but I think for most part should be ok .. I can't talk for the smaller 3 as I only played in the store short time.

I turn OFF Adaptive Brightness and set my brightness manually for the environment I'm in. When I go outside, I simply squeeze and say "Set brightness to 100 percent". I too have had no problem seeing my screen outside. Granted, it's not like the comfort of viewing indoors, but I still find it quite usable.
