Send Hangout (not SMS) via Google Now

Is it possible to use Google Now to send a Hangout message? When I say "message XXX" it wants to send a text even though I already have a Hangout conversation ongoing with that contact. Note, I do have Hangouts set as the default SMS app.

There's currently no way to do this. The only messaging options are SMS and E-mail.
