I am on att and have an m8. Will the carrier versions of the m8 get Sense 7, or will Sense 7 strictly go to unlocked phones?

They usually do update, and especially now that HTC has committed to 3-month update windows, but no official word yet, it's just something that IS expected at least for the M8.

Considering AT&T is the only US carrier that has yet to release 5.0 for the M8, and doesn't seem like they will anytime soon since even the HTC site says it's only on step 2 of the update process, I'd say we'll be lucky to get Sense 7 by the November/December time frame.

Personally I think HTC may delay the sense 7 update a little in order to make another distinction between the M8 and M9. They need all the reasons they can come up with to get people to drop the M8 for the M9 besides just the camera. Yes, yes, there are other "new" things in the M9 but they are internal hardware components that you can neither see nor feel. Let's face it, the M8 runs like a champ and in real world usage I doubt that there will be any discernible difference between the two other than what appears to the eyes. If they let us have sense 7 then the two will virtually be identical in how they function. Now if the camera is the big issue for a person then they may make the switch based solely on that.

And this is why I am keeping my M8 and waiting til next to get a new phone maybe.. I am very content with my M8 and see no reason for me to get the M9 especially since the M8 is already running lollipop with Sense 7 on the way!
