Sense keyboard replacements?

I was trying SwiftKey earlier today. The predictive text was really good, but when typing emails in landscape I could not see what I was typing. Could not find a way to change that. Landscape worked fine on regular documents, just not on email. That's a deal-breaker for me.....

I downloaded SwiftKey free from amazon and while using it to send texts and stuff today I really started to like it a lot, then read this post and tried it myself... Doh! So close to a perfect keyboard app, but this is definitely a deal breaker for me as well. What about Smart Keyboard Pro? Can anyone confirm this shows you what your typing in an email while you're writing an email in landscape mode?

bro juts use a different keyboard for landscape. There's a few ways you can make it so landscape usess one keyb and portrait uses another. google it up

Testing this from SwiftKey in landscape. I can see what I'm typing just fine.

I tried swype and had a hard time copeing with typing by pecking around with the way the overlay captures all stroke before submitting the word to the app. I also had an issue being fast and accurate enough for it to make any difference to me. I didn't even get to see how good the auto correct was before I installed it from frustration.

Today I tried swiftkey since it was free on the amazon app store and initially liked it. The keys were laid out well and when sending te,t messages it felt natural, until I realized the auto correct was terrible for me. It too only last a few hours before I uninstalled it out of frustration.

I have found the best keyboard for me has been the stock keyboard. With its auto correct I can type a word by missing every letter I am aiming for and it accurately guesses what I was typing. For someone who has always had physical keys prior to the thundrbolt, this is super important to work right.

Bennyj, can you see the text in the msg body, above the word suggestion box, as you are typing the email? Cause I sure can't. And when I switch to the stock keyboard it does show the text normally.

Hmm, are you guys using the HTC Mail app? Because I just tested it in landscape in the Gmail app and could see the body of the message just fine while typing. :-\

Yeah, just tested the gmail and the SwiftKey application works as it should. So it seems to just be an issue using the HTC mail app. The 3 mail options save, save as draft, etc seem to be covering the space.

Landscape keyboard for work emails is my most important use for a keyboard. I'm back to the stock keyboard for now.

Thanks, Robrecht

I didn't want to read all of these pages but if someone already suggested it then I'm sorry. I strongly suggest Better Keyboard 8. Not once is it easier to use but you can customize the skins after you buy a license. Better Keyboard 8 is free but features are locked down until you fork over 2.99 (plus tax) for the license. I'm using it and I STONGLY recommend it to everyone.

I am currently using the Gingerbread keyboard. I use Swype, too, but somehow I can't get it to work as well as it did on my Nexus One.

I loved swype that was on my Fascinate but I haven't installed it on TB.
I like the stock keyboard but yesterday I downloaded swift key from Amazon as the free app of the day and I like its word predictions. I am still trying to get used to it. It does not hide what I'm typing like 95% of the time. However, while texting it does not have the send button on landscape like the sense keyboard does. I have to hide the keyboard before I can hit send.

I bought thumbs keyboard, and used it for a couple of days, but I went back to sense, used it for a couple of days, and now i'm using the gingerbread keyboard. I'll probably go back to thumbs and fiddle with the settings a bit more, but overall i loved the thumbs keyboard concept.

Unfortunately, Smart Keyboard Pro also has this problem in the Sense mail app. I believe the Gingerbread Keyboard does as well. Must have something to do with that application. The "Send", "Save as draft", etc. buttons won't disappear while you're typing.
