Separate individual notification tones for specific contacts

[Android Central Question]

I've found oodles of Q and A's about custom notification sounds BUT nothing answers my question. The Galaxy S9+ messaging app no longer offers separate individual notification tones for specific contacts. All the previous Galaxies had this feature but it's been dropped with the S9s and Samsung isn't bringing the feature back. Does Verizon Message+ or any other safe, decent messaging app have this feature? I'm disabled so it's really important that I have the ability to know when I need to look at a particular text message right away. It also needs to preserve all my existing messages from the Samsung Messaging app; I need to keep them and I can't have those just vanish. Thanks.
