Sept. 8 confirmation in MAP pricing

yes $300 is higher than what i wanted to see, but do folks think phones released from this point forward will be any cheaper??

It is a high end phone, and it's better than the Charge which is like highway robbery compared to this thing at $300. If it's going to cost me an extra $50 than I was expecting, I'll pay it, I'm going to have the phone for 2 years it better be good.

Laughing at the price tag complainers. Price will be $400 in two years! Its just the price u pay for new technology that was supposed to be out in April ;)

And the Droid HD, well by the time you can get that you'll already have your eye on something else.

Guys we waited so damn long!! Its almost here and I'm not waiting any longer for anything else.

If EVER there comes a time that I don't have the best by far phone out, ill be sure to find a way to get one. I always do.

I wonder if this is a pre-order date or will there be a pre-order a week earlier like the D3 kind of was...

I hope so! I also wish we knew more about the droid HD. I might have to buy the Bionic from costco just in case lol.

If i owned a Charge I be a little ticked...$299 for that when the superior Bionic is the same price

That's the way technology is. Most tech I know depreciates at a rate that makes cars look like money in the bank!

A coworker was telling me he saw a TBolt for sale for ~$80 or so.. compare that to the launch price.

If I didn't have this technolust I could be smarter and bide my time and let it come to me for a far cheaper price... oh well, I'm doing that for my Tablet...

When it comes to a smartphone, I can't wait. Tablet, like you, yes I can. I have a laptop that works just fine, don't need a tablet, but it'd be nice to have a tablet because it's just that much less bulk to carry around.
I think Amazon is selling the Thunderbolt for like $50 for new customers ($180 I think for existing) right now. If we all waited about 2 months (which I know I can't) we could probably get a $200 Bionic from Amazon lol. I'm just really impatient, and my upgrade is up and my Chocolate is starting to die on me so I want a new phone. Never mind that I have to find an extra $30 a month for only 2GB of data.

If the map pricing is saying that the phone will be 299 on 9/8 does that mean that it will be able to be pre-ordered for that amount on 9/8 or will it be available in the stores 9/8...? I'm very unfamiliar with how map pricing works and the patterns that version takes in releasing them with respect to the map pricing - if there is one.

MAP pricing has nothing to do with release or sale date.. MAP => Minimum Advertised Price... They may sell it for less but the are not allowed to Advertise it for less. Generally to get subsidized advertising you have an agreement with the manufacture not to advertise below the MAP Price.. Hope this helps you..

So technically we could see it cheaper somewhere lol. It just won't be advertised that cheap. Like Amazon, they make you wait until you put the phone in your cart to see how much you'll pay most of the time.

That's exactly right. They can sell for a lower price. They just can NOT advertise lower than MAP. If they do they will lose their subsidy and monetary assistance from the manufacturer. That's why sometimes ads will say lower price in the store or to see lower price place item in the basket (internet).

Yeah I always found it really annoying that I have to add it to my cart to see the price. But hey, it's cheaper right?

So would it be fair to say that we're all looking intently at a Google MAP?

(ducking and covering)

It should be the manufacturer (Motorola Mobility) that sets the MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). Google should have no say in this because the purchase of Motorola Mobility has not closed. Since it has not closed both companies have to continue as separate entities and independent companies.

I was making a crappy reference to 'Google maps' lol.
