Serious Lack of App Coverage Recently?

When I started frequenting AC a few years ago (2013 if I recall correctly), one of the things that got me hooked was the ability to discover new applications from articles here.
I feel like the website has stopped covering articles as much recently. I really enjoyed reading about Best applications for ______, New applications, etc etc
Is there a measured reason for this?

We endeavour to cover the topics our core AND audience at-large are craving. No 'measured' reason for any lack of app coverage, but I will definitely take your concerns and relay them to the editorial team.

Appreciate the feedback!

I understand that, and it isn't that AC is bad at covering applications suddenly. I just feel that the focus is very much off them, and I simply wonder why that is.
There also used to be a weekly app pick by the editors and unless I'm mistaken that is no longer published. Just curious about this shift of focus.

Thanks for acknowledging my concerns though!

To sum it up since Phil left they are going with quality over quantity, and to me it seems to be working.

I agree that I've seen a major shift since Phil's departure, but I also feel like the shift has alienated a part of their core user base. Or at least in my opinion, the change is a negative one.
Even the podcasts have lost any sense of regularity, both in terms of timing and in terms of quality - some of them are still great, but some of them really are not.
I'd cry get Phil back but I have no idea what happened there with him, so I'll assume he just wanted some change and respect his decision.

This week's podcast was actually very good I thought. I was in the same boat as you when this all went down last summer things weren't good initially after Phil left but now we have better quality articles and authors that are more open to constructive criticism which didn't feel at all welcome before.

Made me wonder a bit.... But that doesn't matter now, it's all in the past.
