seriously let down by built in GPS accuracy (or lack of)

Should also mention that the Forerunner weighs almost nothing compared to the S2 so it's not like it has a huge battery or something. It also displays elapsed time, pace, time of day, and distance all on one screen!

Here's an example of how bad GPS is on the Gear S2. Funny thing is it didn't feel I rode that far.

Actually, it was off about 1.5 miles over a 13 mile ride, I had my phone and was using Runkeeper in parallel. I have noticed that when on standalone GPS I see about 10-15% error. When paired with the phone the error level drops to 1-2%. It is disappointing to be that inaccurate.

So here's the test I did. Bike ride with watch connected via bluetooth to phone, distance off 1-1/10th of a mile over 19 miles. Pretty good! Return trip disconnect watch from phone and the watch took 5 minutes before it started to track distance and even then it was sporadic. Restarted watch, start again, nothing. So I just left it. Check it later on and it was tracking distance although 5-1/2 miles behind. Crazy. Not sure if GPS is designed to work better when connected through 3G or not when stand alone, (I have not signed up watch with Verizon). If GPS cannot work properly as stand alone what's the point? I'm sensing a call to Samsung to complain, although I doubt that will get anywhere.

What have the rest of you experienced with GPS when in stand alone mode or connected mode?

This exact same thing has happened to me about 4 times so far. Very disappointing indeed.
Odd thing is s-health sends my rides to Strava automatically and I guess they process the gps files differently so the rides seem to be more accurate. They stay at 620+ miles on s health which kid of throws off your calories in and out!!

Hopefully they fix this soon. I love the watch but I bought this specifically so I can leave my phone at home and go for a ride and still be able to make and receive calls.

Samsung, help us out here!

Mine did EXACTLY the same thing this morning! I rode for 39 mins, map looked accurate, but it said 621.37 miles! It's about a 5 mile ride. WTF?

AND, S Health will not sync this ride.

My weird 621 mile ride won't sync to S Health app and therefore didn't send to Strava!

Mine is consistently inconsistent tracking. I run with my girlfriend who carries her iPhone. I bought S2 to not carry phone.
Sometimes the tracking is close, within .05 for 5 or 6 mile run. Sometimes short by 1/4 mile or more. Usually S2 tracks more mileage than her iPhone.
I ran a trail today and had almost extra 1/2 mile on 4 mile run.
We never left trail, but ithe looks like I hardly was on it. Very frustrating.
Also I have runs where mileage restarts, and it shows maybe 1 or 2 miles, over 45 mins, and a pace of 9 mins per mile. So somewhere it has mileage tracked correctly.
Wish I could post a screen shot of my last run. Looks like I was running thru field of zombies.

Can anyone confirm that gps works perfect under s2 classic? If so I might just return my s2 and get it, so far one report that the classic does track perfectly.
