Seriously torn between HTC One and Galaxy S4

I'm going for the S4. The One looks great but I just find the S4 drawing me to it more, those features are great, I loved the feel of the S3 in my hand, better camera for outdoors in sunlight, etc

Let me make this easy for you and put this discussion to a close...

I currently use the Samsung Galaxy s3 on Verizon with a grandfathered unlimited data plan. I picked up the HTC One from Costco over the weekend to try it out. For the past three days, I've been trying to think of how I can get out of my Verizon contract so I can keep this beautiful piece of magnificence!!! :)

You should go with the HTC one all the way it's so much better then the galaxy s4

One thing to consider is updates to the OS. HTC is having financial trouble and might not spend the money on updates that Samsung can. For background, search for HTC One X owners who are upset with the HTC updates. Of course it is only guys like us who haunt forums like this who are update fanatics so it might not be important to you.

Guess what? Discussion is still wide open, your opinion will not change that.

Considering there is video of updates for the HTC Butterfly, I don't think this will be an issue. At the very least the One will get updated to the latest current Android version. Will it get KLP? That's up for debate. But I'd say that it probably will. But time will tell and we shall see. I do think HTC really wants to have more of an impact with this device. There has been a lot more attention to detail. Definitely a change in company attitude. I think that as the Butterfly shows, this change in mindset will be extending to updates too.

I didn't like on the One how your options to share in certain apps were limited. For instance, on a webpage, if I wanted to share facebook or messages were not available

I didn't realize this for years either, because the share menu doesn't show it well, but you can scroll down on those four options to find the rest of them. I had an HTC Evo 4G, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Evo 4G LTE, and finally the HTC One. I just realized the menu was scroll-able about 2 months ago. :)

Both phones are great and on paper most people would choose the S4, that is until you get your hands on the HTC One. I do think the HTC is a little bit more snappier than the S4, because you'll notice a slight lag in the S4 once you use it. But the S4 has more features and arguably a better camera. However the HTC has great speakers and a better display than the S4.

You won't lose either way, but I chose the HTC and I'm glad I did. Does the S4 have features that I wish the HTC had, yes, but so does an iPhone, Windows phones, etc.

I think both phones are great, up tilk now I always used iphone( I know, I know) I bought the htc one last week, felt like I wanted the galaxy also so bought that after using both, I fell in love with the s4, I know the plastic really aint bad, the light feel and size is more comfortable in my hand, today im meeting someone to sell the one not that its bad at all but I picked the galaxy, also I lost my remote to my tv and tivo and the galaxy watch on is a nicer remote

Yeah really can't go wrong. Definitely play with both of them as much as possible. Even buy one and return it if you need to.

I chose the HTC because of how premo it looks and feels. Like many said the S4 doesn't feel bad this time around. Despite it being plastic they made it feel solid plus it might be slightly more comfortable to hold compared to the hard sharp edges of the One.

I also love front facing speakers. Sure I'll miss some of those features on the S4. They are great to show off, especially to isheep lol. But go get your hands on them!

Plus 36 att activation every time you get a dif phone i went for htc

Also check out sams club if you have one i paid 149 on att upgrade.

I've now owned both phones for a couple of weeks each, and I can tell you...they are about as close to equal as it gets, no matter what anyone says. I had such a tough choice that which one I was going to keep changed daily. For every weakness I found in either phone, there was something else that put it right back into contention.

Finally for me it was so close that it ended up coming down to the camera. And ultimately, despite my love of Zoe, I just could not pass up the Samsung camera. It is amazing in everyday use. It's the kind of smartphone camera that I've always wished for.
So when choosing between the two, I'd recommend focusing on that ONE feature that you just can't see yourself going without, and just jump.

Android OS and apps have no idea what to do with four or 8 cores 95% of the time. It's a spec sheet check off to impress buyers. That many cores also cause heat and battery usage issues which is why phones like the Nexus 4 throttle down so much.

there are two versions of the S4
one has 4cpus at 1.9ghz (9505) with 4G.
the other has two sets of four at 1.6 and 1.2 (9500) and no 4G. The second set is switched in when lower power consumption is required. so its not an 8 core cpu

Seems like over-engineering to me, whats wrong with just stepping down your cpus ???

At least Samsung put decent buttons on the S 4. Nothing worse IMHO than a mushy button.

Idk if you root and ROM too but HTC is a pain with that stuff because of boot loader issues.
