Seriously, when is the Nexus 5 coming?

GV has one thing I love more than anything else. A BETTER VOICEMAIL SYSTEM. I love visual voicemail that apple has and I think it's bogus you have to pay more on carriers to get it. The fact that my voicemails are set to google voice when my primary number is the best thing. And it transcodes your voicemail message and send them to text? WIN!

I'm enjoying my Walmart prepaid plan that comes with 5GB data and costs 40-50 each month depending on how many minutes I end up using. What are you paying for the extra 3 gb, $100?

It's amazing to me how people remain loyal to the carriers, much less stick up for them on message boards. In my book, the only thing worse than mobile carriers are cable providers.
I'm enjoying the best coverage out of all the carriers with LTE literally everywhere I have been and 4GB of data (and not getting throttled when I pass that; I just pay for a little more). I pay 70/month. I dont stick up for carriers. I agree that they are scum. I just pick the one that gives me the service I want for a good price.

One thing to keep in mind is that many MVNO/reseller carriers do not have the multi-carrier coverage arrangements the big carriers do for postpaid customers. On an AT&T map, areas that say "Partner Coverage" likely won't work for prepaid customers. Not a big deal in urban/metro areas but could be a problem elsewhere.

That said, my wife & I have considered prepaid but aren't yet compelled to make the switch. Her 20% AT&T discount & unlimited data for both of us has a lot to do with that. But I'm aware of the growing prepaid alternatives and will be on board if/when I determine the benefits to switching outweigh the current arrangement.

T-Mobile, however, is not an option because their coverage doesn't compare to AT&T in the areas I regularly travel. That might change at some point, but I don't think that will be anytime soon.

-ability to send/receive sms from your PC ---------- 1. i do this with MightyText.
-visual voicemail on prepaid, even services that don't have conditional call forwarding --------- 2. i do this with Google Voice "LITE".
-VoIP calls from pc using your regular number-----3. ok but no need for me.
-easy call forwarding, including scheduled forwarding----------4. ok but no need for me.
-easy to move to different prepaid services-----------5. ok but no need for me.
-access to voicemail from pc even when you don't have your phone----------6. i do this with Google Voice Lite.
-convenient phone switching------------7. i can do with SIM card.
-much better ability to block and screen unwanted calls---------8. i do from within Android Contacts.
-ability to have texts forwarded to email-------9. ok but no need for me.
-no MMS---------------------10. i need MMS! MMS is critical! no MMS is a dealbreaker. my friends and most people use this daily and i will be out of the loop without it.

Could the MMS issue be fixed with the updates to Hangouts in 4.4?

So what exactly happened at this shindig last night? I assume pretty much nothing because I haven't seen anything mentioned at all, it's like it was a ghost event lol.

Go phone sounds good but do they have the same LTE coverage as a postpaid at&t plan?

@ACADM I guess not much happened last night. If nothing becomes clear today then google just lost a customer. I was waiting for the Nexus 5 and 10. Been waiting long enough now. I would wait a few weeks longer if Google had to at least make some kind of announcement last night. But there's nothing online to say what happened. A couple of tweets of the band playing, or an Android game being played. Whoopie!!

They didn't even have any news yesterday. It's like they told people the Nexus 5 was coming out, but we have to wait next week for a public release. Maybe to get more hype

Seems like we've been trolled quite hard by Google, Nestle, and all the rumour mongers, I mean did any event actually take place last night? I just checked geek.com and there's nothing there either, and there was a small post on Gizmondo yesterday saying that Google were hosting an event and that it might be related to a Nexus 10, but no follow up post today.

Important questions through the years:

"What would you do for a Klondike?"

"How do they get the caramel inside a Caramilk bar?"

"When is the Nexus 5 coming?"

"Who is John Galt?"
