Update: We love our community. After 30 seconds of this post going up, readers were pouring in with instructions on how to fix it:

Simply remove the Google account, reboot, and then re-enter your Google account. Takes a couple of minutes, but fixes the issue instantly.

PS. I love how typing in the error into a Google search produced so many results almost as instantly as hitting the send button.

have tried just about every fix i can find and NOTHING is fixing it , its pretty bad im tyring to set up tablets for the kids for xmas :(

This just worked for me after advice from tablet supplier

Please follow the steps below to reset your Google Play Store:1) click Setting2) click Application or Apps3) click manage application4) then you will see downloaded, running, all, on SD card (Select All)5) Choose Google service framethen choose force stop, then choose clear dataAfter you clear all data, restart the Tablet. This will reset the Google Play Store and you can start downloading Apps as normal again

This error occurs when there is conflicting current time information being reported by your device to the playstore. Your device is most likely set to a different time that what the playstore recognizes it should be reporting. Try manipulating your "Date and Time" settings in the settings interface section of you device. In short, put your time and to the correct one for your current location.

Way wrong guess.

Other way round: the server on Google's end is the one with the flaky time stamp, they will fix it.
