Hello

I have Android Overclock and SetCPU for Root Users and I have been trying to underclock to save battery life. That is really the only thing I want/need to be able to do. I have a few questions because I am really unsure of how to set the apps to work.

1) Do I need to use both of these apps to do what I want to do or can I just use one?

2) Has anyone succesfully used these apps to help save battery life on a Droid X?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should only use one app.I prefer droid over clock.it's nice to speed up my device but to me the real benefit is to extend battery life by underclocking. I set my profiles so when my screen is off the cpu runs at 400mhz.
I over clock my X to 1100mhz but when the battery runs down to about 30% I set the CPU to under clock thereby squeezing out the maximum amour of battery life till my next recharge.
When I used setcpu several months ago, there was not a feature to underclock when the screen was off. I don't know if there has been a change inn the program since then but that is a big battery saver for me.
Hope this helps

I have a few more questions....do you only set the profiles or do you mess with the voltages?? If so what voltage do you run at??

I have Android OC and have it set to use custom/advanced settings. My phone is OC'd and undervolted to save battery. It does make a difference, but mostly when the phone is on standby, not so much when it is in use (for battery life).

Every phone/cpu is different so my settings may not work for you. I got the baseline for my settings use QuickClock Advanced and then tweaked from there.
My custom settings:
300mhz @20v (Can go as low as 14 but I am still experiementing)
500mhz @35v
800mhz @48v
1150mhz @60v

My phone will run 1.4ghz stable. Lowest stable voltage is 300mhz @16v, any lower causes some issues. Play around with settings, find what your phone is suited for and what fits your needs. DO NOT SET AT BOOT until you have used the settings for a few days and know that it is stable.
