Got my S7A 6 days ago. It’s my first Android phone (old phone was Windows) so forgive the trivial question.

I read that keeping home screen to solid black is good for extending battery.

How do I set my home screen background to black? When I tap n hold the home screen it only gives me a few pre-installed pictures and pictures on my phone.

Thanks
Phil

Just did the migration from Windows to an S7A myself a few weeks back, just search google play for black themes or search for black wall paper you should find something out there that works I am using the Aloha_Dark , sd-black , and night themes myself, nice easy and easy on the eyes. there is some color but not much. Good luck.

Thanks for feedback. I didn't realize I needed an app. Thought it was just a simple setting I wasn't finding.

Got the Black wallpaper app, worked easy... have a great weekend guys.

Curious how you guys like android coming from WP.
I am still on the Lumia 950 and planning on getting the S7A. The S7A reminds me of the solid build quality we used to get from Nokia. My Lumia 920 and 1020 were bulletproof. No case one either. 950 not so much.

I left a lumia 830 it was a great phone physically sturdy and reliable I really did like it. Once you pull the trigger to move to an android phone its like walking from a small closet into an open field. It took me a day to get the OS figured out but it wasn't hard, the amazing thing is the apps that you want/need are available and out there. Where as a windows phone user you settled for what you could get , you have choices now. Pull the trigger you wont look back. I say get a case for it, because you just cant be too careful I use a unicorn beetle tough case...looks great with the sand gold color.

I attended the MS /Build conference each of the last 6 years and think I got a WP at each one.
Got a 920 from one of them (maybe 4 yrs. ago) and been using it until last week. Yeah, it's a tank. No screen protector and no case. Dropped it multiple times thinking "Oh ****"... but nothing, not even a scratch. Gave the others away to friends, family, ebay.

Tried to stick with WP as long as I could (free is good), but it just doesn't have the app support Android and IP has. It was funny, last year I was using Beats music on my WP 920, apple bought them, it wasn't working (log in errors) . Had to contact Apple support to have them help me on a phone they don't make with an app they don't support. They actually figured it all out though

After a week of using Android I am both happy and confused.
I heard of these things called, "apps". Now I can actually use them. Happy!
But other things like simply setting background color to black require me to download an app. ???

Thanks. I do love the simplicity of the WP experience. Designing the start screen with the tiles and info I want. Multiple emails, etc..
But the lack of apps has become more of a pain then its worth. Also, I have always been interested in Android and excited to learn a new system. Agree that having to download an app to change background color is bizarre, but oh well.
Have you played with any of the launchers yet? Nova seems to be popular.

No app needed. Just a black photo or image to place as wallpaper.

Hi! Not sure if any others users have recommended this to you as of yet, but Zedge is a really good app for downloading wallpapers, ringtones, and notification sounds. I am sure they would have a couple of black/blank backgrounds to choose from. They have lots of dark themed ones, too! Happy browsing!

Set your phone down on a dark surface and take a picture (which should come out black) then set that as wall paper. No need for another app. :-D
