Ok so I just rooted my EVO last night and I bought setcpu. I guess I'm a total noob because I charged my up and within 2 hours I dropped to 85%. Somebody help me figure this out please. I used the latest unrevoked to root and that's all I have done.

Ok ill check it out what gets me is I didn't do anything after I unplugged and I still dropped

Ok I checked it out but I guess I'm not clear on what I was asking, how do I check to make sure its underclocking when I turn the screen off. I was hoping this would get me better battery life

If you want the best battery life your going to have to change ROM get away from the Sprint ROM. I am using Calkulin EViO ROM without needing set CPU it has the best battery life of any ROM I have used so far. The quick read of the battery dropping from 100% to like 80% is an EVO think does it in every ROM just ignore it its kind of a false reading you loose the first 20% real quick but then the battery drain slows down.

Hope that helps,
Dave

Ok I set one for screen off and set priorty to 100% now do I need to set one for when the screen is on ...... but I didn't see a screen on option

No, by default the EVO will scale between 245 - 998Mhz. So the screen off profile limits the high end to only whatever you set it to in the rare case the phone is increasing it's speed.

The profile you set only affects it's matching condition.

So when the screen is on the it'll be at it's default range.

thanks for the tip but i use my phone alot and im a noob at this can u recommend a couple differnet profiles to help me along

ANYONE ....... im running warm 2.2 rls5 with the kernal it came with im a moderate to heavy user with a stock battery.....just need help with some profiles setups for SETCPU

Well setting a screen off is a great idea. Which you already have I gather.

Another good idea is to scale down from 998 after the battery drops, in stages.

So for like less than 70% you may want to scale it to the high 800s and then less than 30 - 35% maybe even scale it down to 600 or so.

Sorry I didn't see the post yesterday!

with SetCPU it's really about figuring out what works best for your usage habits.

thanks alot man yeah i have a screen off profile but that was it and im just wondering how to tell if the profile is working or not...is there a way to tell if it is scaling down when the screen is off??? and you the man THEFREDELEMENT

Sure is, in the SetCPU app go to the info tab at the top and then scroll down a bit and you'll see "time in state" those are CPU speeds on the left and time on the right.

awesome it shows that the most used was my screen off freq. good deal now i just got to scale back on different power levels one last thing which is better to use ondemand performance or userspace

I've always stuck with on-demand. A while ago I was playing around and noticed when my screen was off my phone wasn't alerting me of new emails, I forgot what I was using at the time but on demand gave me the results I wanted.

That's exactly what I did... my profiles are:
Priority 80 - Charging - CPU is max 998
Priority 70 - Screen off - CPU is min and max 256
Priority 60 - < 40% battery, CPU is max 768
Priority 50 - < 20% battery, CPU max is 576

something like that. everything is ondemand.
