Is there an issue when a Contact is part of more than one group?
So my ultimate goal is to set one custom ringtone for all of my existing contacts - about 600. Using Google Contacts, I would choose My Contacts as the main group.
And then, I want to set a different custom ringtone for smaller - ie, subset - groups, like my soccer team or crazy exes.
Lastly, the default ringtone will be something different, so that anyone not in any group or subset group would then be identifiable as NOT in My Contacts.
What I've tried
1. I've tried going into Contacts/Groups then selecting My Contacts, then Edit Group, then changing both the Group ringtone & message tone - then pressing Save.
But when I go into any contact that is in My Contacts, the Ringtone is set as Default.
2. I grabbed Group Ringtones from the Play Store. In that app, there are three (3) My Contacts. For each one, I select a ringtone, then hit OK at the screen to Updated for all checked contacts.
Still, when I go into any contact that is in My Contacts, the Ringtone is set as Default.
Please note that I was able to McGyver this before, but I don't recall how I got there.
