Setting message tone

I want to use a tone in my music as a message alert on my M8. But it only allows default tones. Any ideas. On my M8

I know you can set music tones as ringtones , but as far as message tones such as notification and text, Idk if that is possible without downloading a third party app.

But to set music as ringtones, simply go to the music you want and tap the tab with 3 dots (...) and drop down menu should show with a "set as ringtone" option

You can use any audio for both ringtones and notifications.. I put them in the Media folder on my SD card>Audio>Notifications. When I open up the ringtone list for Notifications their there.
