I am still a noooob so pardon my ignorance. I have pretty much everything set to my liking except the sound/tone for my instant messaging. Right now it is set to vibrate but I would like a sound/tone to go with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

If you're talking about your messaging sound, try this. Tap on message icon, tap on settings, tap on sound, and go from there.:)

Ok I followed your instructions but still no sound. At the bottom of the Settings Page it has Notification Settings, under that it has "Notifications" (Make sounds and show icon in status bar when you receive message) that box is checked, under that is Select Ringtone, I tap on that and a window pops up saying Complete Action Using > Android System, Zedge Ringtones or Use by default for this action. I went to the Android System and checked the circle next to the "Whistle" ringtone then clicked ok. I had my GF send me a text and it still only vibrates for notification (no sound). So WTF is going on?

You did everything correctly. Where do you store your ringtones? My ringtones and notifications sounds are stored in separate folder on my extSdCard. When i tap on "select ringtone", all my ringtones (from my folder) show up on the screen. Tap on the "My files" icon, on your home screen, and find where your ringtones are stored.:)

@riderrick65: One more thing to check. Go to settings>sound>sound profiles. Make sure "sound" is checked off, not "vibrate", or "mute".:)

Thnx grunt, but I'm using the stock ringtones that came with the phone. I don't have any ringtones stored on my ext. SD card, right now I only have pics. and a few music albums on the SD card.

Ok I did this, but it is only showing three choices, 1.Sound, 2.Vibrate, and 3.Mute, There is no way that I can see to turn the sound off.

You want the "sound" option to be ON.

Ok did this, but in the mean time I went to You Tube and was poking around and I found something that I thought would be helpful. It said to go to Settings>sound and then tap on "Default Notifications" and choose your ring tone. Low & Behold, I had the setting set to "Silent", so once I selected the ringtone I wanted I had my GF send me a text and it Worked! PROBLEM SOLVED!

O.K. Glad that you worked it out.:D
