My phone was just delivered today. I'm switching from the S7 on Verizon to the S9 on AT&T.

For some reason which I did not know is that att uses some service called 'enjoy' in NYC. A person shows up at your apartment and starts 'helping you' set up your phone. This was not what I expected and really stupid as this person barely knows what a phone is.

Phone was brought over a few hours ago and still isn't a even activated. This person had no idea what they were doing and att provided no instructions.

Sorry for rambling there but I have a few quick questions if anyone knows the answers.

Do I put my SD card from my old phone into the new phone before starting Att Mobile Transfer? Smart switch doesn't even work on this phone.

Should it normally take 3 hours to transfer my S7 contents?

So this person there to help you is stupid. AT&T doesn't work, Smart Switch doesn't work. Probably has nothing to do with you. Did you try taking the battery out? 👉👌

Go to AT&T store and they will put in a proper sim chip for you and set up your account. If it is a locked AT&T phone the seller should have done that.

It took less than an hour for Smart Switch to copy everything from my AT&T S7 to my AT&T S9. Including 4gb of photos I forgot to tell it NOT to copy. Heh.

I would concur with jgreg02, go to an AT&T store and have them properly activate the phone and put in a new SIM. From there, I would use Smart Switch with the included cable/adapter in the S9's box to copy your other data from your S7.

AT&T Device Support Centers (located in some AT&T stores) are your best bet - if the associate can't help you, someone in the DSC can. I never heard of anyone visiting to set up your phone. (I'd have said "No, thank you" and closed my door.)

In Manhattan, they're located at 484 6th Ave, 3 Times Square, 200 5th Ave (the Flatiron Bldg), 33 Park Place, 128 W. 32nd and 81 West 125th (in no particular order). If you're in another borough, just put att dsc brooklyn (or wherever you are) into Google.
