Settings and updates bar gone.

The settings bar on the bottom right of the screen is gone, so to connect to a different network, I have to go through apps, settings etc. I also like being able to see the signal strength and that is gone. I'm also not getting updates. so it will receive the email, it just wont alert me that its there. Please tell me its a simple fix? Thanks!

Did you try force reboot? Hold power button and volume up button at same time and it will force reboot and hopefully restore your settings bar.

I find a force reboot helps me to fix things that act weird on my Xoom. Like my browser lagging, installing an incompatible app(only happened twice) etc. It seems to clear the cache like rebooting my phone or laptop.
My wife tells me I should take it back because of this, but it doesn't happen that often and I figure its the nature of electronics. Sometimes it needs a swift slap(j/k) like the old tv's when you get a back picture! Wow just dated myself!
