Can someone with the SGS6 S-View Flip case tell me where the trigger for cover is located? How does the phone know the case is opened or closed?

I bought a third party case that offers more protection than Samsung's version, but it doesn't have the trigger. I'm wondering if it is possible to modify the case so that it works like the original.

I used to use the Spigen Slim Armor View with my SGS4, and it worked like a charm. I'm hoping the modification is manageable.

Thanks!!

Welcome back! The smartcover sensor is typically tripped by a magnet, so you could find any magnet (not too strong, to be safe), and pass it over all of the bezels while the screen is on. When the screen turns off, that's where the sensor is.

Smartcovers have weak magnets embedded in the right location of the cover. 3rd party covers might not have those magnets, or they might be too weak. (Sometimes they're too strong, causing the screen to turn off when you fold the cover behind the phone.)

Hi Diddy... i tried the magnet test with no luck. If no one knows, i may have to buy a Samsung case and cut it open.

That's surprising. One of the Moderators told me that the sensor is under the left bezel, at the bottom left of the phone. If the screen is on, and you place the magnet over that area, the screen doesn't turn off?

There are 2 magnets, one in the back of the case in the bottom left, the other one is in the front of the case in the bottom right. I would post a screen shot but the material design android central app keeps crashing when I try to add a picture

Okay finally got to a computer, here you go!
The magnet on the back seems to just be there to let the phone know that it's in a flip case because as soon as I put the case on I get an extra option in settings called "accessory" where I can toggle the auto screen on/off with the flip cover.

I finally got it working. There is one chip, one magnet and two unknown metal elements. I have transferred them all to a rubberized case, and now I have the sleep/wake function, the simplified view function, and the protective case. :-) Image attached. 20151102_121143-1.jpg

I realise this is an old thread but I have been trying to get a wallet case with auto sleep wake for my s6. Have you any details about the cases you used to get the parts for it?
Thanks.
