Take that with a grain of salt...you dont know his brightness settings and he was on wi-fi all day...the battery on this phone is garbage. I have been using it exclusively all week, brightness on max and wifi off and i cant get past 3 h 30 minutes!

You realize that just because it says Wi-Fi active doesn't mean he was connected to it the entire time, right? Mine right now says Wi-Fi active for 8 hours, but I've been at work where I don't have Wi-Fi. That just means it's on.

True...he still on Wi-Fi with his screenshot tho...

I've not gotten over 6 hrs sot either, by the way. More because I'm not really able to go that long without charging. I don't like to carry a charger to work with me so I make sure I charge it overnight beforehand. On the rare times I have 2 days in a row off, I have errands to do and don't want to worry about battery on my phone. I've gotten close to 5 before and had plenty of charge left. Just didn't want to risk leaving the house and my phone dying on me. I keep mine on full brightness, but always have auto brightness turned on. I find it's so aggressive about dimming the screen it really prolongs my battery life. The only time I turn auto off is to watch video. I get so irritated when I just move my arm while watching video and the screen gets so dark I have to pause the video to turn auto off.

No power saver until last 15% and it switched to that automatically. Never turn off WiFi and was at work with no WiFi for 60% and last 40% was on home WiFi. I don't use auto brightness and 77% of use was set at the third brightness level ( not full ) I assume is 65% brightness and last 23% was set on second level I assume is 35%. Normal stuff like phone calls, texting, browsing, camera and gallery, AC app and just playing around with it a little.

My battery life has been great. I can easily get 4.5+ hours of screen on time. Then again I'm not sure who your carrier is. If it's Sprint then I'm not surprised if your batter life is abysmal.

My Sprint battery usage seems to vary. Most of the day my cellular signal indicates red. I assume that's bad.

But by the end of the day I have nearly twice the chargeI would have had on my M8.

I find my HotSpot doesn't burn through battery at anywhere near the rate of the M8, almost "inconsequential".

Guess this thread is about recording cold hard facts. Will get right on it.

As a heads up, these results can be misleading. With normal usage, I consistently average 3 hours of on screen time. However, now I just have my phone sitting playing music with the screen constantly on. I am now on track for 5+ hours of screen on time. These screen shots are not that helpful unless we know how the phone was being used.

Why are you listening to music with the screen on the whole time? That's not normal usage. Normal usage would be listening to music or podcasts with the screen off. That is tracked in GSAM by looking at the active number on the top right. That number combines the screen on time and the usage with the screen off to give an idea of how much you actually used the phone during a charge cycle.

Ok folks. Here is a GSAM screenshot from yesterday. This is what I have been getting on average. Not that great to be honest. Better since I did a factory reset though which is what I would suggest for mtva24.

I consider my 6+ as normal. Not once did I turn on screen and do nothing with it. My 6+ did not include heavy gaming or long videos but that is normal for me.

The point was to see how it would affect screen on time. Just because it's listed as active, we don't know if they just text a lot or do a lot of gaming. Unless they also share their apps usage screen, the results don't necessarily mean a lot.

Right. The system tells you that though. It breaks down app usage with screen on, screen off and overall. It's just most people don't post that. It doesn't mean posting this isn't useful to get a general idea. It isn't meant to be as granular as you are suggesting. This is just a Cole's notes version to give you snapshot of the 1,000 page novel so you get the general idea and main points.

So something has me a bit worried right now. What I've been doing overnight is just putting the phone in Extreme Power Saver mode and so far its really helped. Haven't lost any more than 5% overnight with it in EPS. Until last night. I lost 40% despite being on EPS and the biggest culprit was Cellphone Standby @ 90% of the reason why it drained so badly.

The other thing I've noticed is that my phone, despite having 3-4 bars of reception, has a near constant red bar for Cell Reception in the battery history. GSAM also indicates that my signal is low almost all the time. I checked on XDA and it does seem to be something that is affecting Verizon M9s. But last night was the first time this "low signal" actually seemed to affect the battery in an adverse manner.

I have used about 3 hours screen on time now. I don't think it's a pushover like people has said it is, to be honest.

I don't use my phone much as I drive a lot for work which obviously means not on the phone much during the day. The last 10% would get me through until I go to bed tonight.

I charged it briefly, but here it is 100% in. Like I said, basically 3 hours of SOT no matter how much standby I have.
