Share Battery Life Results

Heck yeah. I bounce between LTE and 3G all night long at my workplace. I'm on a charger because I dropped below 10 percent. GSam said ESPN app was pretty active so I disabled notifications and did a force stop.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a 3G signal. For that matter, I can't even remember seeing a 4G signal. Where do you live?

My Sprint signal sucks alot too and I see 3G and when were traveling too I see it.I stay on wifi as much as possible at work.

I see downloads and screenshots but from my phone I didn't see a place on the forum to upload. I see it from computer. I was listening to Next Radio FM radio through a bluetooth speaker but than left for work. Maybe it got left open in the background would that make a difference? I was not in airplane mode. My battery does drain quicker at work with a sucky signal but today it says

Used 86% in 8h 47m I was on 14%
my screen time said 3:38:09 38%
App USage 56%
Held Awake 1:55:14 1%
Wifi Active 8:15:57 2%
Today phone radio says 8:47:20 3% but i had iheart open and paused and only listened on my break but it was open in the background.
I always have my quick charger with me so I guess I'm not gonna worry about it. I know other peoples last longer. Mine says Battery life 7h 7m (5h 58m Active) Screen on 4h46m (4h8m MAx) I"m gonna try putting it back on auto brightness too. Thanks!

If you click on the hamburger menu in the top left of your gallery app, you should see a "downloads & screenshots" tab.

Technically, auto brightness should help with battery life because it adjusts to ambient light. So it keeps the screen from being brighter than it needs to be.

Not sure why your phone radio would only say such a low number. Did you put your phone in Airplane Mode?

Is it true that the Verizon M9 has Power Saver disabled? Ordered mine today, but didn't know that. Not that its a major detriment for me since I manually handle my Nexus 4's settings to get better battery life out of it.

Not sure what people want. It gets through a days heavy usage without ndeding a charge.comparing it to a m8 is pointless. It has different hardware all the new phones have bad battery this kernel and rom is like night and day to stock. I don't need a phone to last 2 days without use. I need it to pack anough screen on time to get me a days heavy usage it does that and more

Yes that is true. Boneheaded move by Verizon.

Auburn NY. We have Sprint Spark according to the coverage maps but I haven't seen speeds above 28 mbps, same as my M7. Little disappointed, thought I'd be cranking at 50 mbps

Surprised you didn't go with "outside Syracuse" there instead of the 18th most popular Auburn. :)

Lol, I wanted to be exact as possible. I usually say Syracuse when asked. Here's my latest GSam results, been off the charger for about 9 and a half hours

Wow off the charger for 9 hours and still at 50% that's great! Wish I could get that! My signal is never that great that is why.

Been off the charger for 23 hours with roughly 3 hours 13 mins of SoT and currently at 43% battery. At some point battery results are something that users can get to work amazingly. Yes, it should give you great results out of the box but I mean we did pick Android for customization and controlling the settings in our device is something up to us. You empower yourself and your battery when you tweak things like screen time out, brightness, disabling apps you do not use, dark wallpaper...etc etc.

23 hours??? What is your secret?

From my fingers to you on the M8, M9 or the Chromebook! :D

No huge secret I just have stuff I do not use disabled roughly 10 apps. Use Greenify which is an amazing app to help correctly shut down apps when I walk away from the phone. Have emails set to the right sync for me and features in the device turned off that I will never use like Cloud printing, some of the gestures, etc. Brightness @ 40 percent roughly and dark wallpaper from HTC collection as well as not using multiple backup services, pick one and stick with it.

Here is what I do when I get a new device.

1. Skip all activation process and check for software update - Proceed to doing factory data reset after this is completed
2. In setup I only log into Google
3. With new HTC backup I let it restore my Apps - Settings - Contacts --- Setup Greenify ASAP and keep adding updated apps as I install them.
4. Do not let hardly anything with passwords carry over I log back into email accounts, WiFi, apps etc.
5. Disable apps I will not be using like Audible , Amazon suite, VZW Navigator, GP Music, GP Movies, Hangouts, IMDB.
6. Force stop all non operating system apps. Every process when a phone is first turned on starts up...you do not need them all running.
7. Adjust my brightness and wallpaper settings.
8. Go into settings and go menu by menu to ensure only what I need is left on - Example: WiFi --> Advanced and I turn off "Scanning always available" "Auto-switch to mobile network" // Printing - Turn off "Cloud Print"

I guess I feel most non beginner Android users probably do 5 to 8 of these steps I just make sure I hit them all.

Is there a second mode called "Power Saver"? or are you talking about Extreme Power Saving mode?

I am talking about the regular power saver not the extreme power saving that turns it into a dumb phone by crippling all the smartphone features. I never use extreme mode. Power saver is useful though. Verizon is stupid for doing it for no good reason. It is like how some carriers removed the HTC flashlight for no good reason.

Turning off auto scan alone makes a huge difference

Well I"m doing something wrong. My screen shuts off after a minute. I don't have stuff syncing all the time every few hours maybe. I open my mail and Facebook and it refreshes. I don't know Twitter sends me tweets alot via notification and some through text. I am not rooted though.

So should i try Greenify or is too late since all my apps are installed. So is auto brightness not the best just set it to about 40? Thanks!
