Horses at base stable! Rafb
Anyone else think the pro mode interface is absolutely horrendous? Switching shutter speed and ISO to manual or back to auto is nearly impossible without flipping the camera between front and back multiple times. Very poorly thought out ux from sammy.
Anyway, I am also disappointed that ISO won't go lower than 50. And the focal plane issue of this lens keeps coming back to haunt me - it's the same reason I hated the S7 camera way back when it came out. Issue is this: anytime you get close to a subject, as in not even macro, just close enough to it, the camera focuses on such a small portion of the subject that other parts of the subject are blatantly out of focus.
Save the "its depth of field" comments. I am not talking about bokeh/depth of field. I am talking about a composition at 4-5 feet distance and parts of the image are out of focus because the lens has locked on to a small portion. Irritates the hell out of me and I frankly can't wait for the V30 to come out so I can move on. A wide angle is so much nicer for photography than a gimmicky zoom lens anyway.
Juan Bagnell at Pocket now hit the nail on the head. If you want the best auto shooter, look no further than the Pixel because Google's post processing magic cannot be beat. If you want the best pro interface, stick to LG. The Sammy is neither here nor there.
End rant. Sorry!
Why on earth would you need a lower iso than 50? Most professional DSLR cameras don't even go lower than 100. I've yet had a problem with what you've described. Focus is excellent, macro or not and extremely snappy at it. The telephoto lens is especially useful for the scenarios when you can't as easily get close to a subject, and with OIS it works great. Why do people that prefer the V30 call the telephoto lens "gimmicky", as if a wideangle isn't? There are uses for both. On another note, if you want a super wide angle try the landscape mode. It actually works great.

Theres the thing. "Portrait" mode software is far from ready and even when it works it gets old pretty fast. Difficult to achieve compositions that you pull off with a phone camera have more value than blurring background that looks iffy even when the phone does it right.I said there are uses for both, didn't I? For me, I will always find more practical uses with a telephoto lense than a "wideangle" that looks extremely distorted, as in your examples. The G6 especially has that fisheye look, while it's somewhat better on the V30. Again, it comes down to the scenario. You're never going to get the portraits with the same level of depth of field without the live focus mode, unless you want to start messing around with photoshop. Maybe one day we'll have a phone that suits both camps![]()
That looks delicious. Did you make it?Love this frittata and this phone!//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170924/edd9b4997df229f5813d531bf7d37e3f.jpg

Yeah, I saw that you recommended that earlier and I paid for the pro version.
You can't turn ISO down below 100 in this app. Stock app at least lets you go down to 50. And In shutter priority mode, it doesn't seem to allow you to adjust brightness? EV control is locked out.
I didn't realize it when I had the G6. LG's pro controls are so intuitive and just right.
