Boy, that looks so much like the insides of the old Fuji Multiloader Computed Radiography Cassette units I used to work on once in a while at the Hospital. Here's a picture from an on site training class that we had with one of our units.

It was one of these wee printers. Ironically I was only there to set up scanning with it to some of their FTP sites.

Temp was around 3deg C with a wind chill off the sea taking it to about -5deg. Practically spring like My son was happy playing about.
