Here's a Pano and a few pictures I took this afternoon during lunch:

Totally boring and unspectacular photos here, but...

Right before I went to sleep last night I took a photo with my Nexus 4 and a photo with my Nexus 5. Just a small bedside light was on. As you can see, the N5 does a much better job in low light. (auto mode, no flash, no hdr)

Me and the wife are not happy at all with the camera. She is coming from an HTC One S and I have a Nexus 4. Having small kids we need a fast camera and our N5's is not cutting it. That and battery life might have me sell them.
Has anyone tried a different app like Camera Zoom FX too see if it helps?

I'm very pleased with the camera performance as well. The above was shot with auto-mode without any enhancements.

I've got a bunch of other camera apps (CameraZoom FX, ShotControl, Vignette, Camera FV 5) and I haven't even tried them yet. The stock camera works awesome, especially in HDR+. If you're still on the fence holding on to your N4, you should get the N5 on order. In every way, it's so much faster/smoother/better. I really loved my N4, but this phone puts it to shame.

Just took my first 2 pics with HDR and perfectly clear. Not bad.

Thanks for the feedback. I am waiting for the kit Kat update before I decide. Still really like my Nexus 4 but always have tech envy.

Let me know how camera zoom effects work. Would like to know if it speeds up the shutter.

Downloaded camera zoom fx. Gonna give a try. So far the little I used the stock camera it just take a little to get use to it. I did like the S3 setup better, but I'll play around. I use my camera on my phone a lot so I don't have to carry the point and shoot or the DSLR

Here's one from Disneyland last night:

I'm enjoying this phone more by today. May be natural since coming from the S2.

I was messing around with the camera a bit today. IMO the hardware is pretty decent. The settings interface is a bit too fiddly - I'd prefer a simple icon bar on the side or something. I also find the focusing needs improvement, when it works, the pictures are clean and crisp but I can't always get the focus on the first try. I compared the same macro shot using Camera360 and find the stock app to be sharper but tends toward yellow, while 360 tends toward blue - all personal preference.

For those of you who have been using this N5 for a few days, do you have any thoughts on that glass/plastic covering the lens? I'm curious about how its holding up to scratches. With the N4 I had a case (Rearth Ringke) that allowed the lens to be protected by being recessed from the surface of the case. With the N5 the lens cover protrudes from the surface of the back, looks like it will be a magnet for scratches.
