Sharing Google maps

Can I share my trip progress with someone who uses Apple's IOS and doesn't use Google Maps. Thanks.

In some format or other - but you'd have to figure out what format to use. Text, maybe? GPX? That's up to the two of you. (Is there an app for that? None that I'm aware of.)

Most of the people I know who use iPhones prefer Google Maps to Apple Maps -- are you sure the person you're thinking of doesn't have Google Maps installed?

I'm planning on sharing a trip with my cousin. I know he has an Apple but not sure which app he uses but before I suggest the idea, knowing that he is fearful of technology, I don't want to suggest my plan until I know which app he has and if he is using it. It may be that I will share just my half of the trip so he will have an idea of where I am during the trip. If he doesn't use any mapping app, will he be able to follow our progress? Any ideas?

You could also take a screenshot of the current position in google maps and send that as a picture attachment. You could zoom in/out to provide more or less context to the current position. While I was in China that's what I did to kind of document where I was at different times. And, yes, google maps actually worked on my google fi powered Pixel 3.

I got lucky because a friend with an Apple stopped over and I had a chance to test the sharing of Google Maps. It worked. Since we were not traveling, I could not test how I can switch back and forth without losing either connection. Has anyone who actually used this feature, explain the procedure? Again, thank you.

One more thing. After I'm on the road and have activated SHARING, how do I see where the other driver is without losing my navigation screen? In other words, can I run 2 copies of Google maps simultaneously? Thanks

That goes without saying. Good advice. I use Maps hands free with the Assistant. If I am sharing the trip with someone who is sharing their progress with me, will I be able to toggle from my screen to his without losing my navigation screen.?

No matter how many times you asking it, the answer is still NO. You can't check the shared locations while in a navigation.

Waze will provide the person you are sharing your trip with a link. Then the can track your progress using that link
