Sharp panel or Tianma panel?

depends... in general, sounds like a FWP... however, there is a situation when i see it as an issue... if you are driving in a very bright day, you would want to wear polarized glasses, it's good for your eyes (actually, it's good for your eyes to wear them all the time you are in the sun, the ultraviolet rays are not a gimmick)... if you are using your phone as GPS and you have the panel that blocks the screen in the mode you place your device then you have a real problem...

Haha is it just me or is the polarization issue the definition of First World Problems?

Exactly, a FWP. If you need to look at your phone for GPS, just lift up your shades for a second. Or turn it landscape or portrait.

On another note, why did HTC use polarization in the first place?

So which screen is actually better and why? I originally had a Tianma and it was pink at the bottom and had bad viewing from an angle, but had other issues with. I now have a Sharp display that has no pink and has great angle viewing but has a small dead pixel or dust under the glass, and now that I know it's there I keep looking at it and it's driving me nuts! It is so small, but do I take the chance and exchanging and not know what I get in return?

there are no absolutes in life... what you see as a FWP, raising your shades for a second, for someone else is a problem since with other devices he/she doesn't need to raise the glasses, ever... also, have you thought about the people who wears polarized glasses with prescription? if they raise their shades, they don't see a thing... anyway, i believe the polarized screen is to protect your eyes as well as improving the screen readability outside, but i could be wrong (maybe there is a better reason)...

I got the Tianma, which is disappointing. Getting some non-polarized sunglasses will be easier than returning it and trying to play the panel lottery.

When you say "it was pink at the bottom", what exactly do you mean? Was it pink at the bottom all the time? Or was it pink only when you looked at if from an angle?

It was pink looking at it straight on, about the bottom one inch of screen and at an angle the entire screen was pink and could barely see what was on it. The Sharp panel I havenow is excellent but looks to have a dead pixel that's very small, and either I'm getting used to it or it's getting smaller! IDK. Hate to exchange it and get even worse. I'm curious as which is better as some say Tihama and some say sharp

No screen discoloration that I can see on mine.

I don't think there is one better than the other. That's assuming any issues someone has is solely due to the manufacturer.
