Shaving Down Original Battery Door

So if you look at the original Battery door which many say fits over the extended battery it has a bunch of lips where the battery is to hold it down.

If someone were to shave those down, with like a nail fail or sand paper, do you think that would be enough to take the extra pressure off the battery and thus be able to use the original cover and not worry about damaging the phone?

Just interested in peoples thoughts, and maybe someone is more talented than I can try it (I already chipped it).

I'd love to know if this would work. I really like the shell/holster combo that Verizon has with the little flip down kickstand, but I also want to use the extended battery! Maybe some fine dremel work?

I don't use a case but I love the feel of the phone with the extended battery and cover. Feels more solid and fits nice in the hand.

Won't work, its not that lip that pushes down the battery that is keeping the standard door from working. The standard door just doesn't have enough clearance.

I was thinking the same thing... or lightly sand the inside of the case to allow more clearance. I'm sure there's more meat to remove on the case than the battery door.

OK, so I took a Dremel and sandpaper to the Verizon shell/holster case and also to the inside of the extended battery back plate and while it did get better, it didn't seem like it was going to quite do what I wanted. My measure of success is having the ability to put the phone face down onto a flat surface without it touching the screen.

...Then it dawned on me. Why not just leave the back off of the phone? The shell/holster case fits just fine if you leave the back plate off and it seems to cover up anything that would otherwise be exposed.

A lot of people in XDA are talking about this as a solution. I am unsure because I will not be using the VZW case.

My goal is to get something really thin, like the Rearth case Rearth Samsung Galaxy S 2 Ringke Case

or the Incipio Feather that is always popular

I want the Form really badly so I don't want a thick case like I am using now (The Incipio double layered case) but I refuse to give up the function of extra battery life for it. Esp, when 4G loves to eat the battery so much!
