Shield Tablet vs Nexus 9

I picked mine up at my local Microcenter. They even had a nice display set up.

Got the N9 at the beginning of the month... Had it pre-ordered with one day delivery. Picked up a Shield tablet 16GB at GameStop last Friday and added 16GB micro SD card. Bought the case/stand and controller yesterday. So far I love both these tablets. Right now I'm using the Shield for everything... Gaming, movies, web, e-reading, calendar, email, news stand etc...

Using the N9 for mostly just web browsing and Tapatalk when Shield needs to charge. Before I had the Shield though, I used the N9 for everything and it worked great. I just kind of prefer the smaller form factor for my daily driver. But they both are great tablets IMO.

I'm keeping both tablets for now. (Shield was an early Christmas present). Retiring my iPad Air and N7...

If I had to choose between these two tablets though? I'd probably say go with the shield. Less expensive/better bang for your buck and if you game, its fully equiped to handle the task...

Need a tablet and pretty much narrowed down to these 2. Mostly I use my tablets to browse the web, watch YouTube, play some games and watch movies. I like that the Nexus 9 has a bigger screen, but Shield Tablet is much cheaper, nearly in half considering I would buy the 32GB Nexus. Which should I get?

With your tablet uses you listed unless you do heavy CPU intensives gaming Get a Samsung Tab S with a choice in two screen sizes. The Tab S has a Super Amoled screen that has many advantages over other screen technology including being much faster, viewing angle tends to be a bit wider and Amoled is using much less power since each Organic-Led produces it's own light.

Picked up a Samsung Tab S 10.5 for $379 at Costco last Sunday for a friend and my wife has one also that I paid $499 in Aug. If you are going to get yesterdays 32 bit CPU technology like the Shield that isn't 64 bit then at least get one that that got good battery life and a better screen like the Tab S.

I would disagree with the above, not saying the Tab S is a bad tablet but in my opinion it not the best choice. The battery life from my research prior to owning and actual usage have shown the 8.4 tab S and the Nvidia to be very comparable under normal circumstances. Of course playing graphic intense games the Nvidia battery will not last long, but for daily web searching, emails, etc they are about the same,

The display is subjective, the Samsung "looks" better to some people but I personally find the Nvidia to be more than adequate with fairly accurate color representations.

The Nvidia has a much more stock Android experience so unless you like the Samsung bloatware slowing your tablet down again for me personally it is a big negative.

And lastly the Tab S is more expensive.

Again please do not take this as bashing the tab S, it IS a good tablet, but I feel the Nvidia beats or matches it in every category other than weight.

Personally I just bought a Tab Pro 8.4, and I think I'm going to keep it and sell the SHIELD. it's half the weight and thickness, screen is beautiful, battery lasts a long time and it's using Snapdragon, so it performs rather well, though it isn't a beast like the Tegra. Wish it had an LTE modem, but frankly the modem in the SHIELD may as well not be there it's so bad.
