Shipping notification....Who's first?

Something is going on. My order status changed from "Processing Order" to "Order in Progress". Anybody know what that means?
I checked with "Sprint Chat" about the meaning of "Order in Progress" and this is what was said:

Wanda A.: I will help you.
You: Can you tell me what does Order in Progress mean?
Wanda A.: It means they are working on your order and it is processed at the ware house. Very soon it will be shipped and tracking # will be generated.
You: Ok, thanks. I hope to see a tracking number tomorrow sometime. Thanks.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I have enjoyed reading this thread today. Very exciting. Can't wait to get the phone. Can't believe this customs BS!

I got a bad feeling about this.

I really think Sprint is going to hold up ALL orders. Even the pre-orders.

If there is the slightest hint they can somehow get in trouble for letting some phones go I am sure Sprint's lawyers will tell them to hold up everything.

Well, I was told my credit card would not be charged until the Evo shipped. My account was charged on 5/15 at 11 am. We shall see.

Sprint is in a catch 22, they've already sold a bunch of phones, and they have even charged for them. On the other hand, they got this embargo and could face legal action if they distribute it.

This according to the "Inside Sprint Now", which has been reliable...

**UPDATE** Since posting the article below – it appears that a large majority of the pre-order stock is also being held. Will know more on Wednesday AM around 10AM, will update then.

From a Inside Sprint Now on XDA:

"well i noticed the influx in hits from here, so thought I'd stop by and say hello first, and deliver some bad news second.

While a limited amount of inventory was already in stock, it will be shipped out, and there will be some stores with limited inventory... however not nearly all pre-orders will be able to be fulfilled. I'm working on a new post as we speak with more details, as the full launch has officially now been postponed, and the word it's likely going to be at least a 10 day delay... but of course it's out of our hands, but thats the current thinking. We'll know more after 10AM tomorrow morning.

Exactly.

That is why I am thinking they will NOT distribute any of them.

This is going to get very interesting. Could be disastrous for both Sprint and HTC if its not handled properly.

I am not sure this is correct.

Yes, there is a customs embargo, but as far as I have read, there is no legal injunction preventing Sprint from selling phones that have already cleared customs.

Anyone with a legal background care to expand on this?

BUT what IS in your hands is our money!!

Is Sprint planning on offering refunds, or rebates to those people who pre-ordered, and whose money you have been sitting on for what will eventually be two weeks to a month?

From what I understand, there have been approximately 30,000 pre-orders...that is about SIX MILLION DOLLARS that Sprint is earning interest on that does NOT belong to them!!

An immediate response is in order!

Good God people. It's just a phone. Jeez, what a riot. It was only a few weeks ago that you all hated the glossy back and the non-removable battery, and now it seems you'll die if you have to wait until next week.

I don't care if the phone ships tomorrow, or a month from now.

You're missing the point...Sprint is now sitting on, and earning interest on, more than Six Million Dollars for unshipped pre-ordered goods.

Unless Sprint is willing to remunerate, on a per-diem basis, those who have pre-ordered this phone, then they are ripe for a class action lawsuit.

And BTW, I don't for a moment believe that Sprint (and HTC) did not see this coming.

Just a phone? Not for me. For me it's a powerful pocket computer with a high rez HD screen that has the handy feature of having an integrated phone in it.

It's the miscommunication that is making us go crazy. There are so many different stories, rumors, confirmations, and everything else out there and the only thing we can get from Sprint is, "our goal is to get your order to you before or on the national launch date." It's ridiculous. If only they were more fluent with their communication we could all get on the same page and come to a resolution. But it's not that way. Every Sprint rep has a different idea as to what is going on. We were told we'd get the phones by the May 18th date. We haven't been told otherwise by Sprint. That is what is frustrating. Can I borrow $200 from you and not let you know when you'll get it back?

And BTW, I don't for a moment believe that Sprint (and HTC) did not see this coming.

There is ABSOLUTELY no way they were caught off guard. They were trying to work this up to the last minute, and I'm sure still working it. Sprint and HTC took a risk and it appears to be backfiring on them. We are the ones who will pay the price.

Sprint's pre-order page was pretty clear on the fact that they would charge our credit cards when we submit our order, and since they did not announce the launch date of May 18th until two days after the pre-order page became available, my guess is that they would only be liable to the people who pre-ordered after the release date was officially announced.

So, they can ship whatever they currently have in stock to the people who pre-ordered first (prior to the launch date announcement), no idea how many people pre-ordered on the first and second day, or how much stock Sprint has available, but they must have some, as they were able to send review units out to various tech reviewers... My guess is that they probably won't be able to cover even the first day's pre-orders.

For the people who pre-ordered after Sprint made their launch date announcement, only to have the rug pulled out from under them less than a week later, Sprint should offer a refund to their pre-orders. (Actually, they should allow it for everyone.)

But... going through this thread, it sounds as if this is a disaster of biblical proportions. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes. Volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria!

I couldn't have said it better!
