Shipping notification....Who's first?

Just roll with it. It's fun to get worked up about this crap....entertaining to read as well.

It's why the rest of the world hates the USA....we freak if our cell phones are delayed.

This according to the "Inside Sprint Now", which has been reliable...

**UPDATE** Since posting the article below ? it appears that a large majority of the pre-order stock is also being held. Will know more on Wednesday AM around 10AM, will update then.

Inside Sprint Now

How would customs hold up stock Sprint already has? It's out of Customs jurisdiction.

Sprint's pre-order page was pretty clear on the fact that they would charge our credit cards when we submit our order, and since they did not announce the launch date of May 18th until two days after the pre-order page became available, my guess is that they would only be liable to the people who pre-ordered after the release date was officially announced.

So, they can ship whatever they currently have in stock to the people who pre-ordered first (prior to the launch date announcement), no idea how many people pre-ordered on the first and second day, or how much stock Sprint has available, but they must have some, as they were able to send review units out to various tech reviewers... My guess is that they probably won't be able to cover even the first day's pre-orders.

For the people who pre-ordered after Sprint made their launch date announcement, only to have the rug pulled out from under them less than a week later, Sprint should offer a refund to their pre-orders. (Actually, they should allow it for everyone.)

But... going through this thread, it sounds as if this is a disaster of biblical proportions. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes. Volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria!

Word is that they currently have 30,000 or thereabouts pre-orders. If they scheduled this launch for Friday, and didn't have at least 200,000 units on May 7th, then they are more irresponsible than I give them credit for.

I checked my status again, and now it says:

"Thank you for pre-ordering the EVO LTE. We will do our best to get it to you on or before the national launch. You can continue to check status of your order on www.sprint.com/myorder"

Notice how it's changed from May 18, to "national launch."

Yea, I thought the same. I swore it said May 18th before.

Nicely done.

I've been on the Bears season ticket waiting list for 10 years. They're earning interest on my money. Oh, the humanity! Then again, if I want in, that's the price. Or I can get my money back, and the next guy in line moves up.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE ? Full Launch Delay ? Inside Sprint Now

In continuation of our earlier post ? we can now (un)officially confirm that the FULL launch of the HTC EVO 4G LTE is now officially delayed. This is very preliminary, however, as of 11PM tonight, we can report:

  • FULL Launch DELAY
  • No pre-orders will be shipped
  • No HTC EVO 4G LTE devices will be sold in stores on 5/18
  • Internal conversations put the launch delay at least 10 days out, however that?s up to customs and a court right now

PLEASE NOTE: This can and likely will change over the next 12-24 hours, but as of right now, that is the status. We will know more after 10AM on Wednesday, and I?ll try to post an update as soon as I can after that.

See the source link for the FAQ

I certainly hope that they have enough stock to cover the initial batch of pre-orders, and that what's being held up in customs is a later batch.

I hope, but I'm not optimistic. Especially since Sprint has removed the official launch date of May 18th from their website.

Assuming that they'll ship out whatever stock they've currently got on hand to customers who pre-ordered on a first-come, first-served basis, I'm not even optimistic that my pre-order, which went in 20 minutes after pre-ordering became available, would see shipment this week.

Yea, I thought the same. I swore it said May 18th before.
It did. But Sprint has already changed that status multiple times.

Nicely done.
Thanks. :)

When I preordered the EVO 4G LTE I thought that the people the preordered were going to receive the phone on May 18th and the official launch date would be after that. The wording could go both ways. It said they would do their best to get the phone to us before anyone got a glimpse on May 18th. It could also mean that they saw a potential issue popping up.

Also, I chatted with a feller named Cedrick K on Sprints website last night at about 9pm EST and was told that the phones are on backorder. He then told me that the backorder did not effect the preorderes in my state. I live in Maryland. He said that I would "positively" receive my phone on May 18th.

Sales just told me not to use the DM60 order number:

Jessica: Please use the order number oy-shso-xxxxxxxxxx when checking your order status online. The DM60 number is a backoffice warehouse number that will not have updated information if you check the status online.

She also said everything looks good with my order that it is still on schedule to arrive before Friday. She also said to check back within 24hrs for an updated status. (Mine also says backordered).

FYI, Jessica is a generic name for their computerized system that answers based on questions that you input.

This is the chat transcript from last night:

Cedrick K..: While I access your account information, can you please provide more details about why you?re chatting with us today?
Customer: I recieved a message that the EVo 4g LTE that I preordered is now on back order. Is this true Cedrick?
Cedrick K.: Thank you for providing additional details. Please give me a moment while I research that for you.
Cedrick K.: Thank you for waiting.
Customer: Even if it is true and the launch of he EVo 4g LTE is delayed, I am still going to wait for it I just want to know how long I may have to wait.
Cedrick K.: I have checked the details and found tat yes, it is true that the phone is on back order due to the high demand.
Customer: So, when can I expect to recieve it? Cedrick K.: We are trying hard to get it as soon as possible but exact time is not available as of now. Please note that we will keep you informing about the status of the phone by email or text messages.
Customer: Ok Cedrick, here is the thing. I PRE-ORDERED thi phone and I was told that I MAY get it before the 18th of May. I need a for real answer n this next question. I don't want a scripted answer or something even close. Before you answer the qustion chill in my shoes for a minute and think of how you would be feeling. Ready? Here's the question: Am I going to get the phone BY THE 18TH OF MAY?
Cedrick K.: Thank you for your patience, I will have the information shortly.
Cedrick K.: I'm still researching the information for you. Thanks for your patience.
Customer: Really?
Cedrick K.: Thank you for waiting.
Customer: Are you done yet?
Cedrick K.: Yes.
Cedrick K.: We are trying hard to get the phone by the 18th of May 2012.
Cedrick K.: Due to the high demand of the phone, it is on back order and we are in the process of sorting this issue with the manufacture.
Customer: So, then am I going to get it by the 18th of May?
Cedrick K.: Yes, positively, if there will be any delay in delivering the phone, we will inform you.
Customer: Thank you. That is what I wanted to know. Even though it is still kind of left open but you said positively Cederick, so I am going to be positivley pissed if I don't get it by the 18th.
Cedrick K.: I really appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Customer: By the way, I have yet to get ny type of communication from Sprint regarding my pre-order aside from the thank you for pre-ordering message. Why did Sprint not notify me that the phone is backordered?
Customer: You still there?
Cedrick K.: Yes.
Cedrick K.: I have rechecked and found that there is no back order of the phone in your state.
Customer: Cool, when is it going to ship?
Customer: I mean, about when? I know that you can't give an exact time but when?
Cedrick K.: You will get it by may 18, 2012.
Cedrick K.: May 18, 2012.
Customer: Sweet, thank you so much Cedrick. Have a good Day/Night.
Cedrick K.: It's been my pleasure chatting with you today. You?ll receive an email transcript of our chat within a couple of hours.

Customer: Thank you.

Learn about pre-ordering select devices

Last Updated: Mar 29, 2012

You can pre-order select devices on sprint.com. Here's all you need to know about the process.

Shipping
We know you are dying to get your hands on your new device. And when you pre-order one, we'll do our best to get it to you before others get a glimpse. During the pre-order period, we will send you a shipping email and tracking number before your order has shipped.

Apparently since at least March, that's what Sprint normally says about any pre-order phone. I'm new to Sprint so I wouldn't really know for sure. I just know that I need a Sprint phone asap so that I can cancel my T-Mobile account by the 19th. I already started a new contract when I bought the Epic Touch 4G for my wife... thought this EVO would come right on time so that I could port my number and cancel... anybody know if there's a buyer's remorse period with Sprint so that I can cancel my initial account with no ETF?

Sprint Evo Page says the pre-orders are out of stock now. "Our EVO 4G LTE pre-order inventory has been spoken for. Checking back soon foe the National launch."

So looks like we won't be getting our phones anytime soon and we can't cancel....Cool haha!

You would have to think Sprint will somehow have to come up with a way to give people their money back.

I cant see how Sprint can hold onto this money for another month or so if it takes that long. Class action Lawsuits will start popping up.

Wouldn't it seem logical and far more profitable for sprint to ship the pre orders of new costumes over the costomers getting upgrades?

i just talked to a rep and she said there is no pre order phones either there ALL at customs. that sucks balls.

There are already both One Xs amd EVO LTEs in the country. Why didn't they just check those as they were shipped in? Then the bulk shipments for the majority of customers would have been no problem.
I'm no expert on customs, import/export, patents, or anything related to this, but I think this could have been handled better (I could be completely missing something and wouldn't be surprised if I am). Especially with regards to Sprint and HTC keeping their customers informed.

Edit: The emails from sprint after pre-ordering said that our phone were sitting in their warehouse waiting to be shipped. Does that mean they were lying or they were in off shore warehouses?

I don't care if the phone ships tomorrow, or a month from now.

You're missing the point...Sprint is now sitting on, and earning interest on, more than Six Million Dollars for unshipped pre-ordered goods.

Unless Sprint is willing to remunerate, on a per-diem basis, those who have pre-ordered this phone, then they are ripe for a class action lawsuit.

And BTW, I don't for a moment believe that Sprint (and HTC) did not see this coming.

I import product occasionally, and I have to say customs isn't the most transparent group of folks to deal with, its very possible they didn't see this coming.
