Short SMS messages converting to MMS Messages

Hi All,

I am having an issue and hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have 1 phone # in my contacts that for some reason when i go to send it a message it automatically converts to a MMS before i even start typing the message. My current service provider is AT&T (my friends also) I do not have (his #)@txts.att.net or @mms.att.net stored anywhere in my phone. AT&T is "looking" into the issue and Samsung says its and AT&T issue.

Has anyone come across this issue? any results on how to solve?

BTW i have a Samsung S9+ unlocked

Does that friend have an iPhone?

Have you activated RCS for texting? Is it also telling you when that person has read the message etc?

Open your messaging app, start a new text message, enter his phone number manually DON'T pick it from your contacts or autocomplete list. See if it works.
