Should I be concerned about the heat when using my HotSpot?

Hi there,

Use of my hotspot which is all I have for internet out in the country, heats up my phone significantly. I would say it's to the point of being probably too hot. I can still hold it without burning myself but it does get to the point of me being concerned. I was using it in the closed position. I now partially open it and stand it up like an upside down letter V and it's cooled of considerably. Using it this way my over-heating concern is pretty much gone but I would imagine over time all that heating up and cooling off is gonna take it's toll.

Thoughts? Thank you.

I would definitely keep an eye on it. I know so far with this phone I've noticed when I put the phone closed on my car wireless charging it's hotter than I would like but definitely keep an eye on it... How l long is it on hotspot?

"On the downside, using your phone as a hotspot can cut the phone’s battery life in half." So maybe a foldable like the z flip is not a good choice for someone constantly using it as a hotspot.

Heat is definitely an issue if you're going to keep this device long-term. Heat is the number one reason why batteries deteriorate over time. You will definitely kill your battery capacity if this phone is your main source for a hotspot.

I personally use the cheapest 5G phone possible when I just need a 5g hotspot. I have a Samsung A32 and One Oneplus N200 and both have a 5,000 milliamp battery. Don't use your expensive high-end phone as a 5G hotspot....Regardless of the phone it's going to kill off your battery, the flip having a small battery doesn't make a good 5G hotspot anyway.

Sometimes it's hours or almost all day but that's coming to an end soon cuz I'm shutting down my business.

I got to use a phone instead of a hot spot from a T-Mobile salesperson at the Mall several years ago. I can't afford an additional plan and now I'd have to buy a 5G phone cuz I don't have any except my Flip3. It was a cheap phone and it did a real good job for a few years but I think it was dying out this past year. I took it out of service when I had to make some cutbacks.
