Should I be upset about this dirt under my screen.

I hoe you're at the store right now getting a new one.

If you have to call Sprint then call Sprint, but really you should be able to get this taken care of. That is crazy that, that phone would pass QA somewhere.

When you get your knew one make sure to thoroughly inspect it at the store, I've seen your post and just want you to end up with a good handset!!

thanks I will do that. Like I said if this was any other phone I would be done and on to something else. I just feel like I am getting horrible luck. Plus I wanted see what you guys thought even though I knew what you would say. Its just nice to hear it. I will keep everyone posted on what happens. thanks for all your help.

I would got back in and tell them that you want an exchange or give you your money back. The phone clearly was like that when you got it and you should be entitled to a quality product.

Dust under the screen, this device had been out of the new box for 1 hour. One sprint store said they would not replace this because it was cosmetic. Cosmetic or not this is one hour old. I wouldn't be having this discusion 6 months from now.

Just exchanged mine today at RadioShack. Those pics look just like mine looked but with about twice as much dust. Same place, upper left corner.

Fight the sprint store employee....stab him with your evo....you will get another one if you do that for sure.

I have dust in the same place, and I'm just concerned that when I exchange mine, it's going to happen again. How do I keep it from happening?! I'm considering getting a white Evo when I exchange.........

I just got an email from HTC and they said they would take of it if I still had the device, so now the question is should I just bypass sprint and got right to the factory. I'm pretty sure I would get the latest hardware version.

Well have say HTC really came through, they are overnighting a new device to me and I should see by Tuesday. Plus they are sending me a free 4GB flash drive. I really think they are trying to get to the bottom of this problem. I just thought I would share my experience with HTC, they sounded truly concerned and wanted to take care of it as fast as possible. I even got an email on a Sunday night.

I have quite a bit of dust under the screen in the upper left area and a few specs around other places as well. I also have light leakage around the entire screen (not just the bottom as so many are reporting) and my battery cover doesn't fit right on one side. Also have the glass raising up on the bottom. Both my wife and I's have all these issues. I emailed HTC so we'll see how that goes. I would rather deal with them than a local store. I think I have a better chance of getting a more solid unit if I go straight to the source. Glad you got yours worked out. I hope the new one is trouble free for you.

Yeah I think they will help you, I had one evo that when I would plug it in to charge the home screen keys would go out. The only thing I figure that was causing this was I had light bleed between the charge led and light sensor.

Do you happen to know if it will be a new one?

Yes he said it would be a new device and not a refurbished one. All I have to keep is the battery and SD card.

So you just emailed customer service then? I have the same issue and I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm not even sure if Best Buy has any in stock.

Well its been less than a week and its starting in the same spot. What are the odds that its the leather HTC case.

Don't you have to pay a 30 dollar restocking fee.

One other thing I found is that the volume rocker doesn't seem right. It clicks when I push on it. So when I think that pushed it it didn't really do anything because it seems like it has a two stage button.

Well, I received the following reply from HTC about this.

"Hello, My name is Jeffery and I will be assisting you today. I understand that the HTC EVO 4G devices you have are having the screen come apart from the casing. We are aware of a number of claims of this type of issue and are looking into it with Sprint. Currently, we do not have a fix for the situation and HTC/Sprint will annouce addition information when it becomes available. I have forwarded your information to add to our tracking systems. I do apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced. Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support. Jeffery"

While waiting for this reply, I called them and received a fairly different response. On the phone they told me that they are aware of a problem with some launch day Evos and that they are sending my case to the escalations department for review. He said that I should hear something soon about what they are going to do for me. I really don't know if I should wait for HTC or just try and exchange it at Best Buy (who is sold out anyway). Tomorrow is the last day for returning it so I'm pretty concerned.
