Should I buy a LeEco s3?

You should be able to power up and get it running even without a SIM, right? The SIM is only for the phone/LTE service.

It asked for a sim so I decided to just wait a bit. We were going out anyways, so it wasn't a big deal. Just got it and got back home..

Let me just say, I love it! Fingerprint scanner works like a charm, camera is amazing, atleast to me compared to the lumia, and the interface is honestly not bothersome at all. Yeah, there's a "live" button that's right in the center of the bottom bar, but it's not like I accidentally press it or anything. Sure a clean android may be better, but so far I wouldn't say that's even close to a reason to not buy it. Like Scott said, build quality seems very good. Picture looks great, although I'm coming from the 635 so I'm not great at saying whether or not it's a good picture for what it is.

Love it!

The 2 photos on the top are the Le S3 and the 2 on the bottom are from my Moto X Pure

IMHO the Moto X has better color reproduction and lets in more light. I will try and get some outdoor shots to post here

You could always just use a different launcher like Nova. That's the first thing I put on my last two new devices.

I hate to sound stupid, but is that easy to uninstall say if the warranty was needed? I feel like they wouldn't want you sending it back with a 3rd party launcher on it.

I do a lot on computers, but phones, and android, are very new to me.

If you factory reset to send it in for repair it will delete the Nova Launcher and all your other installed apps.

No...it's just an app that changes your interface. It doesn't require rooting or flashing or anything that might void a warranty.

One thing it CAN'T change is the notification shade, though...unfortunately. Some parts of the Mfr skin are untouchable without root access.

Thanks guys! I'll install it and play around!

One question I do have which may or may not be their skin, should it show the exact battery percentage and service etc when you pull down from the top? I believe that's the notification shade. I'm used to sliding down from the top of my lumia and getting the specifics of what's shown up there, like the battery percentage.

Is this just android or no? Either way, does anyone know how to see the battery percentage on these easily?

Yes I was thinking splitting this thread up in to new threads would be better.
First impressions etc.
Yes, better create new threads about any new discussion. There's just one sub-forum for all LeEco phones, so, please, start the thread title with the name of the specific model.

what you have to do is hit the recent apps button and it pulls up that and your quick toggles etc. You can't get your quick toggles by pulling down which is how most androids work

Pulling down with two fingers didn't work.

Going to recent apps works, but I installed GSam and now the percentage is always up there which is great!

I didn't dislike the Le Eco launcher at all. Until I used Nova launcher. Wow this is amazing!!!

Another thing I found that I honestly LOVE, is the IR blaster. When I heard that they decided to remove the 3.5mm jack and add an IR I was kinda ticked off. But I didn't even really think about it. I thought it was so that you can control their TVs and like sync them together or whatever. But it just acts as a remote for any TV. And being that I can never find the remote for my TV, or any TV in the house for that matter, it's very useful to me.

I don't know if anybody has the answer but I was wondering if the 2 LeEco phones they released in the US have the same camera?
