Should I buy a pixel phone for my next phone and ditch Samsung?

I was a loyal Samsung Galaxy user since the first S3 came out. The issue I ran into with all of my Galaxy phones was that the performance of the processor in the Galaxy phones were seemingly surpassed by the development of the applications. As new apps were developed the phone's processor could not keep up with the applications and all of the Galaxy phones became clugy and slow. I have been a Pixel 2XL user for about 3 months or so and have seen absolutely no lag in performance. In every Galaxy I ever used, by now, I was experiencing a slowing in performance. Literally, everything about the Pixel 2 XL performs better in every way that I can think of over the Galaxy. Because of the performance issues I was experience with the Galaxy (mostly poor battery performance) I went to the Moto Z Play where I got way better battery performance but I also had problems with the Moto Z Plays' screens randomly dying on me. Moto Z screen replacement costs about $300 to have it done right by someone who really knows how to get it done correctly. So, I went to Verizon Wireless with my last Moto Z Play with a dead screen and I was actually looking to replace it with a brand new Moto Z Play. The Google representative happened to be on-site that day. He was able to give me more details about the performance differences of the Moto Z and the Galaxy versus the Pixel (he actually had the latest Galaxy in his pocket that he used for work, which made a powerful statement with me, as he compare the problems he was having with the problems resolved using the Pixel.) He also was knowledgeable about the Moto Z series. I could tell he knew what he was talking about because he explained in detail the same issues I experienced and understood without prompting him. One thing that sold me was that Google offers a 2-year replacement guarantee for any reason. The risk was low so I decided to go with it. The first time I got a pixel 2 XL I had to return it within a week because of an issue with the flash/LED randomly blinking. Without question or hesitation Verizon Wireless replaced the phone and I haven't had any problems with this phone at all. Ironically the Google rep was on-site again the day that I returned the phone (he's there every Monday.) He had never heard of that particular issue that I had. It turns out only about 2 to 3% of all of the Pixel XL 2 phones had that problem. I will never go back to a Galaxy or Moto Z as long as the Pixel continues to perform the way it is now. Finally, one of the top 3 best features of the Pixel XL 2 is the battery life, which happened to be my favorite feature of the Moto Z. The Pixel 2 XL by far surpasses the battery life of the Moto Z Play. You can also get a 30 amp turbo charger that charges the phone from zero to a hundred in about 10 or 15 minutes. On top of that you can get a 15 amp car charger. No matter what apps you run such as navigation music audiobooks phone text all while you're driving, the phone still increases its charge while plugged in. This is the best phone I've ever had. Any doubters about this, I would be more than happy to field any questions. Pixel XL 2 Happy customer in Northern Virginia.

Wow, glad I've had no issues with screen on my z play. The Pixel does seem like a great phone.

Google store has an adapter but maybe it's only for the Pixelbook

I wasn't suggesting a Pixelbook. I'm saying maybe that's what the adaptor is for in the Google store

That's funny; I had a micro-USB to HDMI adapter for my Nexus 7 (2013) that I used when I was traveling. So much for new technology...

Yes for some reason they killed it in pixel. Pissed me off. Not all Samsungs have it either. Some do some don't.

Now that I think about it...my Droid X had a mini hdmi port built in

My Note 3 did too. My V20 has usb c to hdmi. Just need the cable.

I have a Pixel 2. Works great. Try one and you'll probably keep it.

I on the other hand just left the Pixel XP and Pixel XL for the Samsung S9+ and I am still getting used to it after a month. I am getting less issues with navigation!! Can't connect to network messages on the HTC and both Pixels very frequently. After a month with the S9+---not once.

I like the Samsung Pay! It seems to he accepted more (and seems to be effectively working) than Android pay.

Turned off Bixby and enabled Google.

Need to learn the camera settings but first experience without reading they turned out good. Looking forward to learning more about it...I am a DSLR camera tote everywhere type person as I am never satisfied with phone pic resolution and all the processing time it takes to correct pictures....so looking forward to a weekend when I can run it through it's paces.

So far the ONLY complaint I have is the minimum volume on both the S9+ and my JBL E55BT headphones is way too loud. Do I really have to install an app to get the volume down?! Volume level is perfect paired with the old 6P.

One of the great things about Android is being able to switch OEMs in different iterations when they are at their best, and skip them when they drop the ball. There's no way I could stick with one brand forever and ever. Might as well be an Apple sheep.
