Hey always use ASUS OEM accessories.

Laptop is not a good source of charging your device.
Connect your Asus Charger to the device let it charge for few hours & check if it charge's if not then visit your nearest service center.

Re: should I buy asus zenfone 2 or not

Personally I would not buy this phone. I did buy it myself because of nice specs and attractive price. However you get what you paid for. To me phones shortcoming were apparent pretty quickly. Reception and call quality is questionable (well documented , just google it), speaker is weak, battery is weak (fast charging helps), camera Is so,so. I dislike asus customizations. Too many gimmicks. Low res screen, poor visibility in sunlight. So many trade offs for the price imo. At the end I decided that $400 can us still a lot of money and if it is better to spend more money and be totally satisfied.

I would by this phone, root the phone, remove bloat ware, install ROM/launcher. All very easy to do. Very fast and snappy never failed on me. And the zenfone 2 4gb keeps up with many flagships today. Even destroyed my mates Samsung s6 edge, and mate iPhone 6 and 6s

There are many shortcomings. Reception is not so good, speaker is very weak so it is hard to have conversations like that and battery is pretty bad as well.

I do not see point of buying phone for benchmarks.

Re: should I buy asus zenfone 2 or not

The biggest problem with the Zenfone 2 is the 'STORAGE' issue, for some unknown reason there is a 'LOG FILE' that is called 'MODEMCRASH' this is in the system files and can only be accessed by 'ROOTING THE PHONE' (which is a pain in the arse) and then you have to download and install several other bits of software in order to access and delete this 'ROGUE FILE'!
So all in all until ASUS come clean and admit that they stuffed up with this 'Useless MODEMCRASH LOG' that no matter what you do will continue to eat away at your phone storage at an amazing rate (out of the 11Gb of storage I had on my phone I was losing over 2Gb a week even though I didn't download any new apps, I saved all of my Pics and Music onto an SD Card but it didn't stop the leak, if you go online it gets even worse you will lose up to 1Gb of storage in just one short online session).
So 'NO' I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone until 'ASUS FIX THEIR STUFF UP'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you don't believe me I would suggest you Google 'ASUS Zenfone 2 Storage problems' and after you've read the hundreds of complaints you might believe what I've said.

They fixed it in the latest update.

And if anyone is willing to buy this phone, go for it. One of the best at it's price range!

I think I'm jumping on a new deluxe se with 128gb+128gb. I am excited to be able to use the zenwatch 2, fitbit alta fully and other things my windows phone will not do. I am going to miss my 41mp camera however.

Oh damn, you're gonna love the Android device, trust me! I switched to a Zenfone 2 from my Lumia 520; BEST decision ever!

Yeah, I have the 1020 and LOVE it, but Microsoft total bail on the older phones and new system making me switch. I am going to buy the normal zp2. 64 gb with 4gb ram with the zf3 on the near horizon, I am going to save some coin and buy that when it comes out. Instead of blowing 600 plus on the deluxe se.

Hey you wont face any issues, make sure you use OEM cable that came with the device. Also laptop is not a good power source to charge your device.
