Should I buy another Nexus 6p?

Hello,

I have been through a ton of Android phones and one that stands out in my mind is the 6p. I know it's about to run out of security patches what I think in 2018? That said should I invest in another one? I think it's probably the best Android device I've tested and I've been through a lot of them. One thing I'm seeing is to buy one brand new now they have gotten high. Should I buy used or new? I'm indifferent between the 32g and 64g as I just want to find a pretty good deal. To me the 6p is every bit as good as the Pixel and half the cost or used to be anyway. What do you guys think? Should I grab one while I still can and if so, new or used? I'd prefer to have the original box set. Buying one used basically eliminates that but on Amazon I've seen them 399 to 500 new. Is it worth that? I'm not sure. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'd still buy one. Try swappa. Sometimes they have "new" ones, but mostly they are used. Many include all the original accessories and packaging. The overall quality of the phones and sellers is better than eBay. I've bought 3 items and sold 4 there. Not one bad experience. 2 of the items I bought were substantially better than expected. There may be some sales in the Google play store as the pixel 2 gets closer to release.

Regarding the phone, you'll get one more Android update and about a year and a half of security patches, so you'll be set for a while. It is an outstanding device, and it's one of the few phones that I'll be keeping for more than a year.

I'd wait for the Pixel 2. They aren't selling new 6Ps anymore and I wouldn't buy a used one because of the battery problems. To be specific the battery degradation on the 6P has been extreme and replacing the battery is incredibly painful. I just had my 6P replaced under warranty because of the battery, they sent me a refurb but the battery appears to be new so I'm happy again. My original 6P had become close to unusable because of the battery, I would assume that any used 6P would be roughly the same age and as such it's battery would worn out.

I just bought a "new" 32gb 6P on eBay for $400 to replace my original one that had a defective battery. The "new" phone came without a box, only with a generic charger that I don't use because it doesn't support rapid charging. That said, I have all of the original accessories, so no biggie. The new phone is awesome. Accubattery shows battery health at 97% and a charge lasts more than 24hrs. I'm trying to religiously charge the battery per Accubattery's recommendation; that is to a maximum of 85% to avoid battery wear and damage. So my advice to you would be to ask the seller for the Accubattery rating to make sure to don't get a bum battery.

Given my experience, I would only advise buying one from someone you knew you could trust. monezmod's idea of asking for an Accubattery rating is a good one, as long as you're pretty sure that you can get your money back if the seller turns out to be a big fat liar about that.

By now, even refurbished 6Ps are going to be past or within a month of their end-of-warranty life, So unless you can find an amazing deal from someone you feel confident about, I'd say pick another phone. I bought mine refurbished from the Amazon warehouse: it looks practically new, but the battery is complete crap and will need to be replaced soon if I continue to use it.

I wouldn't buy one again after using a Mate 9 battery life is absolutely astounding on my Mate 9. Nexus 6p is only good for quick updates nothing more.

Good advice guys. I greatly appreciate it. I was going to actually get one but now after reading this, I'm staying clear. I just got a BlackBerry PRIV and I used to be a BlackBerry addict. So for now I'm going to rock the PRIV for a while. I just remember how much I loved my 6p when I had it. Best device I've used for the money. Didn't realize the battery issue had gotten so bad.

If you're worried about battery life look at the LG V20 - that has a removable battery. You can still get those new as well.

Really? Didn't know that. I had been looking at the LG G6 as it appears to be a great device. I definitely wanted another 6p but if the battery life span is that terrible it sounds like it would be a bad move. If I can find a deal on one I'll get it but otherwise I'll use my BlackBerry PRIV for a while I just got.

People are swearing by keyone if you are a BB addict. I'm planning on buying one for my wife. I've been running on S8 Plus for 2 months and oh man I love it. Bit pricey though.

I would not get a 6P. Better jump on OnePlus5 for $475 brand new on release day. Top of the line specs and closest you will ever get to vanilla android experience. If i was not a samsung pay addict, I would defiantly get one as my daily driver. S8 Plus got me too hocked to let go.
