Android Central Question

I have Huawei P10 Lite and it works great. But I'm thinking about upgrade and I have a nice deal for Samsung A50 at my network carrier. Should I upgrade?

I mainly use phone for browsing internet, YouTube, music. Maybe some light gaming, like puzzle and platformer games, nothing demanding. Is it worth upgrading since my current phone performs these tasks without issues?

The A50 is a great device..I’d recommend it especially given what you use it for. Given the P10 Lite’s age I’d say now’s around the right time for an upgrade.

From what I hear the A50 is a solid mid-range phone.

Yep. Looking forward to seeing what the A51 will be like. This year Samsung has definitely gone on the offensive with its mid range offering...they’ve done quite well in my opinion.

I agree..

I am using the a50 and previously had the s8 and note 9 and have to say the A50 is excellent. For the most part it performs as well as flagships. The screen is fantastic, the inscreen fingerprint scanner is now really good - so much so I had to try with a different finger to see if it just worked with any now! It doesn't it recognised it was the wrong finger.

I play a fair amount of games and they all work really well too. Really good device for the price.

Just got mine last night after 2 years on the Note 8. I rarely used the Note specific features, and most everything else from the old flagships are now included on the mid-tier phones. Since I have a teenager with a phone now, I was able to "downgrade" to the A50 and move to an unlimited data plan, but still keep our monthly payments a few bucks less than with the Note 8.

I'm really liking it so far. I will admit that I do miss wireless charging, but I just picked up a wireless charging adapter from Amazon along with a case, so I'm hoping that will help.

I did the same but from the note 9 and have to say this phone holds up to most things as well in how I use it. The only weakness I feel is the camera, brilliant in good light but struggles in low light I feel.

Yeah the savings are great I got mines outright and £50 cashback from Samsung and now at £10 a month for data and calls :)

I agree..

According to current leaks the Samsung A51 will look like the Note 10 design wise (front) with a 6.5 inch (likely FHD) AMOLED display, a 4000mAh battery, 32MP selfie camera, a 48MP+12MP+12MP+5MP rear camera setup (main, ultra wide, telephoto and depth), an Exynos 9611 and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage.

If they prove to be true the new camera setup and design look quite tempting but power-wise the Exynos 9611 (used on the A50s...is 10nm, uses Cortex A53/73 cores in a 4x2.2Ghz/4x1.7Ghz configuration with a Mali G72 MP3 GPU) and 4GB RAM look a little disappointing. 6GB RAM and a newer processor with a better GPU and faster cores like the Snapdragon 675 or 730 would have been nice

That said, it hasn’t been released yet so fingers crossed it will be a great device!

Yeah definitely, these are mid range device so should be good

I use a Note 10 but set up Samsung a50 phones for 2 family members. Installed them in good cases. Responded as well as my previous Note 8. It will be interesting to see how they hold up with age.
