Should I buy this Note 5 still?

My MacBook Pro handles all the conference and business applications that I need it to do. The Note 5 64GB handles everything I need it to do. I don't see any problems with the Note 5 except for degrading battery but my extended warranty has handled all this. Sure, if I had my way, like many others, we'd want certain features in our phones. The Note 5 has been the best phone I've used to date.

Alright, you win. The Note 5 is a fine phone and at a reasonable price a great deal.

A few caveats: I wanted to play a you tube video during a trial but couldn't with my Note 5. I prefer not to bring a computer. My definition of a workhorse would have allowed me to play the video. As does my Note 4 and S8+.

Second, a 2 year old Note 5 is susceptible to an exhausted battery whereas the Note 4 can easily take a new battery.

I see the Note 5 as a step back. You don't. We simply disagree.

I went with the Sapphire black 32gb for $240. It's in really good shape! I might just want to replace the battery since it's used. Any idea the cost ? I looked it up myself and I know I'd end up cracking the screen.. lol

I just can't justify spending $800 on a new phone, even with a payment plan. Most people take really good care of expensive phones like these, so I don't have any worries.

Local Denver top rated repair shops are quoting approx $65.00 for a battery replacement. Sammy factory repair... hit or miss, for me, a huge turn off, based on their past foul ups.

Not sure why I'd need MHL, IR blaster is a fad, replaceable battery is nice but if it quick charges, that's really better. Internal temp is nice but still, I'm not rooting it so I won't have to worry about it overheating.

IR blasters are only a "FAD" because OEM's stop producing phones with them. Some of us use them everyday.
I wish they still made a phone with stylus and IR blaster.

I still keep my Note 4 charged and running just to use it as a remote for my TV/Stereo/Cable box. I don't use it as a phone anymore but it's still a great remote.

It's just not worth it to waste my battery with an IR blaster when I could buy a 10$ universal remote that I'll maybe have to change batteries once or twice.

I've had experience with Samsung Repair. It's a great option!! I paid $72 (rounding up because I can't remember the few change lol) for a battery replacement on my Samsung Galaxy S6. I got it back within a week & it's been great ever since. I get about 3-2 hours of SOT but, that's because this is an S6 & I'm a power user. So those don't really work together well lol. But, the battery has held up quite well. And I'm not so sure I'd trust a thrid party! I had my camera lens replaced and they completely messed my camera up. OIS no longer works consistently & when it does my phone vibrates from the camera sensor. It's horrible. So I've been looking into getting a spare phone so I can send this S6 in to Samsung to be repaired. Or I may take it to a service center since it's quicker.

While I have moved to the S8+, I still have my Note 5 and it's a great phone. To me is only lacks - (Hardware) S-Pen, Water Resistance & Removable Storage (Software) it's missing some minor stuff like AOD, Blue Filter and some other small bits.
**for me the main thing I miss with the S8+ is having an S-pen since I use that feature daily** The Note 8 will be here soon :)
Most current generation phone have gone to a sealed battery model (this seems particularly true with WR phones)
Still a great phone.

Cheers,
BR
