Should I get a new phone NOW or wait till new ones come out?

dont want to spam but i noticed theres a 100$ rebate on note 3... so that brings it down to 200. Is that better deal than the maxx (possibly 100 at BB i checked.)? it does have better specs and i read less complaints about it than maxx (bluetooth but fixed now?)

They are extremely different phones. The Note 3 is going to be very different from what you are used to with the Droid Razr Maxx HD. And if you are looking at specs, then you are looking at Motorola phones in the wrong way. Motorola is not playing the specs game. The specs of their phones may seem "worse" than others, but the actual performance of their phones is better than many of the other flagships. MORE CORES doesn't always mean a better phone.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a Note 3. I think Samsung phones are garbage, especially after having owned one and knowing others who have owned them. But that's my experience.

How bad is the camera? I tried it and it is OK. The click on screen with no assisting features is annoying...

I think the camera is fine. Go to the Moto X or Droid Maxx forums here. There are threads with examples of pictures taken from the cameras of those phones.

There are various camera modes or features that can be accessed by swiping from the left edge of the screen.

If I were on Verizon I'd get either the G2, Droid Max or the Moto X.

Such a relief not having to worry about battery life and all 3 are good.

I like the G2 but I also like Moto's thinking out of the box with the wood backing. Real premium look

I read a review g2 is pretty good too compared to maxx. The reviewer Even said the battery between the two are on par too. But anyway I gotta make a decision tomorrow before sales over...

Note 3-200$
maxx-100-125$
g2 -?

BTW, one Rep said s4 is smaller note3 so He said I should go for that instead..

You do realize that the Note 3, Maxx, and G2 all offer very different experiences from one another, right? You need to compare them on that level, as well.

I would suggest going into a store and handling all three of them to see what they're all like. They each have very different interfaces, especially the G2 since the buttons are on the back.

And I wouldn't pay much attention to what store reps say. They usually don't really know anything.

It will be interesting in to here what your choice is and how you adapt to android. One thing is for sure you'll be glad you found the key to unlock them shackles lol

Don't go with the GS4 - the GS5 is right around the corner. And no, the GS4 is not a smaller GNote3. Gnote3 has 1GB more of RAM, S-pen and a faster processor.

I thought the Droid Maxx was $200? Is there a rebate?

What is the rebate for the GNote3?

I'm inclined to agree with Ultra that the Maxx is the best of those three and by quite a wide margin. The S4 is also in now way a smaller Note 3. They look somewhat similar in the interface, but the Note 3 is leaps and bounds ahead of the S4. While normally I totally agree that waiting for the next releases is a bad idea, the S5 is coming much sooner than updates to most other OEMs and is probably worth waiting for if you're leaning towards the S4. Otherwise, with either the Moto X or Droid Maxx, you're getting the best device that Verizon will probably have until late summer.

yeah i tried all 3. Note3 i feel i have to use both hands but the resolution is so nice and the camera is awesome. Maxx feels very familiar (used Maxx HD prior) .... almost too familiar - not sure if it is a good thing to feel using the "same phone" again. The HTC One max is too big... G2 was kinda weird getting used to the buttons. The korean guy says all his korean customers buy Samsung then Motorola - LG he sells very rarely and only the free ones lol....
I feel if the Maxx had the camera i would get it asap. I used Maxx HD before and the camera was not very good at all.

To be fair, the Maxx has features that you won't really be able to appreciate until you start using it. One of them is Assist. With that enabled, the phone will recognize when you are driving and ask if you would like your text messages read to you while you're driving (and then proceed to read them aloud and ask you to respond if you say yes).

It's definitely an improved experience from the HD.

What about the camera? Didn't the Razr Maxx HD have a really bad camera? The Droid Maxx camera isn't the best on the market currently, but I believe it is significantly better than the Razr cameras.

All I know is that the current Motorola cameras are better than that of my old Galaxy Nexus, which is all that matters to me. I'm sure the current Motorola cameras are better than the cameras of the previous Droid generation.

The note and Max he said are toe to toe but he likes his note 3 with the watch gadget thing.

Verizon(and most carrier) reps are basically programmed to push iPhone and Samsung. You can't trust anything they say about either of them. The guy who said he likes his Note probably doesn't even have one. I have a Droid Ultra which is a Droid Maxx with a smaller battery and less storage and it is by far the best phone I've ever had. I got it on release day and I haven't had a single moment of lag with it, it just flies, regardless of what the specs are.
The battery in the MAXX is far better than the one in the G2. Reviewers usually run a test that simulates the load on a battery, and in those tests the G2 fares close to the MAXX, but in real life usage the MAXX blows it away. If I were you, I would go to the Verizon store, spend some time with the Droids and the Moto X, and whichever one looks the best and feels the best in your hand, get that one. Don't ask the Verizon reps for their opinion because they have a financial agenda that has nothing to do with you getting the best phone for you. The Droids don't get a lot of love, mostly because of them being a Verizon exclusive, but in my opinion, them and the Moto X are the best phones currently available.

Have you used the G2?

thanks for the quick reply. I did take a tour of a "verizon experience store" and got some interesting pointers from the rep. The note and Max he said are toe to toe but he likes his note 3 with the watch gadget thing. One thing that "scared me" was him mentioning the note 3 battery being good but mentioned how he barely used his note 3 and down to 57% (from 9 to 4ish)...

I also looked at some top rated phones and surprisingly maxx is not on the list... i know it was last year the maxx hd... any idea why it isn't? Also is galaxy 4 better than maxx?

Don't know where you were looking, but Consumer Reports put the Maxx as #1 on their list of best smart phones and CNET also put it as an "Editor's Choice" top pick. My husband has the Maxx and he absolutely loves it. Battery life is great - and yes he has KitKat 4.4 and has had no problems. I have the Ultra and while I don't get the kind of battery life he does, I still get the best I've ever had on a smart phone. I too am on 4.4 with no problems.

You have to remember that more people come on a forum to discuss and find answers for any problems they're having than they do to praise a phone, so you get an unfairly skewed picture when you judge a particular phone just by complaints on a forum. I have no doubt that the vast majority of people love their Maxx and have no complaints.

If you are using a Maxx, I assume you value battery life. So I wouldn't recommend the G4. It's a nice phone. I seriously considered it, and my husband has one and is happy with it. But it gets less battery life than most of the others you are considering, by a long shot.

I wanted something that fit in my pocket, and the S2 (and all the notes) was too big for me. But I liked it other than its size. That's obviously a very personal thing, and you need to go to a shop and hold them and see how they feel in your hand to made that sort of decision. I ended up with the Moto X. I like the X well enough, but I'm a heavy user (mostly of simple games and online forums) and I find the battery on the X to be adequate, but not great. I'm not on Verizon, and the droids weren't worth switching to Verizon, which would cost a lot more for me, but the Droid Maxx looked interesting to me. I don't expect it to get updates as regularly as the X, but it seems like a very nice package out of the box. I'm pretty sure its battery life is better than that of the X. On the other hand, the X feels really nice in the hand. I enjoy fondling it every time I pull it out of my pocket. :) I have the soft touch patterned black back, which I think is the one sold on non-customized models.

Oh, I also wanted to say that I had wireless charging with my Palm Pre, and still miss it. I thought, "what's the big deal, you still need to plug in the charger", but I was wrong. Being able to drop the phone on the charger without thinking about it is really nice. If you wake up at night and want to use the phone as a flashlight to get to the bathroom, you just grab for it, you don't worry about pulling it off the little charging prong cleanly. When you return, you just drop it in place. At work, it sits on the charger/dock when you aren't using it, and similarly, if you want to grab it, you just do, without having to think about it.

Obviously not a "need to have" item, but I think it's a really nice option. Wish there were a way to modeify the X to do that, but with the attached back, that would be really tricky, as well as obviously voiding the warrantee.
