Should I get Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2?

I can't wait to check out the Note 2. I'm due for an upgrade and it's time to make a move soon. I can see I'm going to have a tough decision coming up very soon.

I'm so ready to get the S3 but 2 more weeks isn't going to kill me. Carrier availability will be the deciding factor.

It Depends on your wants and needs.. They are both good phones.. I like to watch movies, read, draw on my snapshots, and play games.. That's why the note is for me.. Try them both out and see which one your comfortable with..

I've wanted the Note from the beginning but wasn't willing to switch carriers for it. My Epic Touch 4G (IMO) running a custom ICS ROM is a phenomenal phone which doesn't make that 2 week wait that hard.

I hear the Note 2 will have the 1.4GHz Exynos. I would get the Note 2 if you want extra size, slightly higher resolution, and better stylus/writing. The US Note 2 might just get the Dual Core Snapdragons like the S3 though.

I believe Galaxy Note 2 spec wise comes pretty close to the S3 but it will sport quad core unlike the S3's dual core. so all you really have to think. What am I gonna do with it due to screen size...

I'd do the same with it as I do with any other phone....just with more screen. :D

...You have to think that many flagship devices will be unveiled during the winter season for holiday shopping. We will see another flagship HTC device and a (couple) nexus devices...

This is what's so weird being in the US though--sure, HTC will release an updated phone, but probably only one or two of the major carriers will get it. You have to look at your own carrier, and think, what device is next in line to get replaced? E.g. I don't think Sprint will replace their new Evo this soon, they would be more likely to take a midrange HTC device in the fall/winter.

Go for the S3 my friend. You won't be disappointed. It's a great phone. Does everything you'd want it to. And, it's not too big. When jelly bean arrives it's sure to get even better. I know the note 2 will probably be great but personally for me that size of device would be way too big. As a MOBILE phone.. Too big. Good luck with your choice.. alanandroid

If you are after for specs and features, then I suggest you go for Galaxy S3. At reasonable price, you'll get a top-end phone pumped with high-performing hardware and creative software. Although Galaxy Note has quite longer battery talk time (10 hours) than the S3 with only 6 hours. But then again, whatever you think suits you best, then you should go for it when it's already available.

I though the S3 provided longer than 6hrs talk time.

I had those kinds of thoughts too, in that rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 2 will be even bigger than it already is. Even though I have medium-large hands, I don't think the Galaxy Note 2 (or the original) will be the right choice for me, now that I think about it.

And I think that the carrier availability will be the deal breaker for me. The Galaxy S3 is available on all four major U.S. carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint), but the Galaxy Note is not; it only runs on the two GSM carriers (AT&T and T-Mobile). Doesn't that make the Galaxy S3 more flagship than the Galaxy Note and its successor?

BTW, did any of you find out the flagship status of the Galaxy Note?

What really bothers me about the 2 year contract is that if you buy a phone that you think is good, take it home and use it for a month and find that it's not all that great (with all of its glitches, freezing, and almost daily reboots), you're stuck with it for another 19 months, which would seem like an eternity. I'm not really in that situation, since I said in an earlier post that my upgrade is at the end of December, but that seems like eternity from now too, since my phone has exactly the same problems as the example scenario I outlined here.

If I could get a full upgrade today, I'd just run out and grab the Galaxy S3 in a heartbeat and forget about the Note 2. Sadly, it doesn't work like that. :(

I though the S3 provided longer than 6hrs talk time.

The Galaxy Note has a 2500 mAh battery, while the S3 has a 2100 mAh battery. It's only a 400 mAh difference, so I would think that the S3 has at least 8-9 hours of talk time. The Infuse only has a 1750 mAh battery, yet it's rated as having 8 hours of talk time.

If you'd rather have a 4.8 inch screen, no stylus, and a phone that is available now, go with the S3.

If you want a huge screen with a stylus and can wait a couple months, wait for the Note 2.

It's as simple as that, both will have incredible performance so it just comes down to screen size, stylus, and wait time.

I was just about to buy galaxy s3. Now i think i better wait for the Note2 with biger screen, with more memory, more better pixles and faster speed. It is true what they say "Good things comes for those who wait". :)

I thought that the note is simply a bigger S-series flagship phone. The Note was a bigger S2. It stands to reason that the Note 2 will simply be a bigger S3... with a stylus.

S3 would be a safe choice, now. S3 is a great product, yes it is possible that when GNOTE2 comes out the performance and stuff are better than S3, but hey that will not dwarf S3 into a lousy trash phone that you want to just dump into a rubbish bin.

Also s3 is cheaper and you can get it NOW without wait.

Getting it now without wait is an option for those in a hurry. Fortunately for me, I'm not in a hurry. I became upgrade eligible on 8/1 and once word of the Note 2 started surfacing I decided to wait a bit longer.

The problem is, my upgrade date is on 12/31. By then the Galaxy Note 2 will have been out for AT&T, so I will have a tough time trying to decide between it and the Galaxy S3. Granted, the Galaxy Note 2 would be the latest and greatest by then, but the Galaxy S3 also has that flagship advantage, which means that it'll be on a more prioritized list for upgrades. When I say upgrades, I mean official upgrades that come directly from Samsung, not custom ROMs.

As an example of prioritized upgrades, according to many Internet sites, there have already been leaks for the Galaxy S3's Jelly Bean update, and http://global.christianpost.com/new...jellybean-update-to-roll-out-next-week-80442/ says that the international version will get it next week. As for the original Galaxy Note, there's not that much information yet about its JB upgrade, at least not that I know of, despite it having been out a lot longer than the S3. Some sources say that the Note will get JB in Q4 2012, but that's all the information out there that I could find for that.

For me to get the Galaxy Note 2, it must not only have the same features as the S3 and also features way beyond it, but it also must be a flagship, and I have to hold it in my hands and play with it for a while so that I can actually contemplate if a 5.5" screen is the way to go. If, after using the Note 2, even one of the answers to these three criterion is no, then I think the Galaxy S3 will be the winner for me, even if it will have gotten a little outdated by then.

Why, you may ask, am I so obsessed about flagship phones? To answer that, all you need to do is look at the Infuse and its characteristics (which include specs, post-purchase support, and media attention) and compare and contrast the same things to the Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, and (optionally) the Galaxy S3. I think you'll find a sizable number of differences, especially if you compare and contrast the Infuse to the Galaxy S2.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the time period that AT&T had the Infuse for sale was significantly shorter than that of the Captivate; for those of you unaware of it, AT&T no longer sells the Infuse. What does that tell you about this phone?

For me, this and the characteristics of my Infuse tell me that I never again want to be stuck with another phone that was so neglected and plagued with problems of daily freezing and rebooting.

The Galaxy Note was a flagship.

Could you please direct me towards a reliable source so that I can confirm that fact? How can one accurately and reliably tell if a certain phone is a flagship?
